Zimbabwe take on India in the second ODI on Saturday, August 20 in Harare. They lost the first ODI and now need to win the second ODI to keep the series alive. The hosts won an ODI series against Bangladesh heading into this series.
After the highs against Bangladesh, Zimbabwe was outplayed in all departments against India. Deepak Chahar dismissed the Zimbabwe top-order to break the game open for India. They were bowled out finally for 189.
Shikhar Dhawan (81) and Shubman Gill (82) then chased the score down in 40-odd overs. They added an unbeaten 192-run stand to take India home.
Zimbabwe skipper Regis Chakabva praised the Indian bowlers for going on the attack against his batters. Even the experienced Sikandar Raza failed to put up any resistance against the high-quality bowling and was dismissed for just 12.
” The Indian bowlers bowled really well, put the pressure on us and we lost our way after the first 4-5 overs. It was good to see Richi (Ngarava) and Brad give us that partnership at the end. We needed to have one or two big partnerships, but it didn’t happen today. Our bowlers tried to come hard at them, but obviously, they batted really well and took the game away from us” he said.
