KL Rahul won his third toss in a row but chose to bat to expose his batters to the “challenging” conditions early on. While Shikhar Dhawan patiently saw off the new ball, Rahul looked out of sorts, crawling to 24 off 43 before chopping on for 30 off Brad Evans.

Dhawan launched India’s innings with three fours in his first ten balls, but Zimbabwe responded with tight bowling. When Richard Ngarava and Victor Nyauchi noticed Dhawan pounced on balls that were too short or too full, they stuck to tight lines and good lengths, which kept both India openers in check.

After that, it was all Shubman Gill. He walked in at a time when India was batting at just over four runs per over. He timed the ball perfectly, drove confidently whenever the ball was even slightly pitched up, swept the ball into gaps, and kept the score ticking even as Kishan eased himself in. Gill’s maiden ODI century scored at a much faster rate than any of his teammates propelled India to 289 in the third ODI in Harare.

Sikandar Raza Takes Zimbabwe Close To Victory

Gill survived a close lbw appeal in the 43rd over off Evans, and a review revealed he had a thick edge, but Zimbabwe still got a wicket off that ball, with Kishan run out while the fielders were still appealing for the lbw.

If It was Gill for India, it was Sikandar Raza for Zimbabwe who hit yet another century for his side to kept the team in the chase. It was his 6th ODI century and 3rd century in the last 6 innings. The home side looked out of the game for most part but Raza got an able partner in Brad Evans who both first saw off India spinners and then went after the Indian seamers.

Here is how twitter reacted after Sikandar Raza hit yet another century:
