India National Cricket Team veteran all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja knocked over the 31-year-old Australia National Cricket Team bowling all-rounder Sean Abbott to seal the victory for his side in the second ODI.

The second ODI of the three-match series between KL Rahul-led India National Cricket Team and Steve Smith-led Australia National Cricket Team was held at the Holkar Cricket Stadium in Indore on Sunday, September 24.

During the run-chase of 317 in 33 overs, the Aussie batters struggled to get going. From the top order, only David Warner and Marnus Labuschagne were able to fire while the rest of the batters got out for low scores.

Despite Australia being down and out at 140/8, Sean Abbott didn’t give up and smashed a terrific half-century. Abbott showcased a batting masterclass and added 77 runs in 44 balls with Josh Hazlewood, but it wasn’t enough for the win as they were bowled out for 217 with the last man to get dismissed being Abbott.

On the second ball of the 29th over, Jadeja bowled an absolutely sensational delivery that pitched in the middle and leg before spinning sharply to demolish the stumps and leave Abbott stunned.

We have the momentum at the right time – Shubman Gill

Speaking after the match, Shubman Gill, who smashed a sensational 104 runs and was involved in a 200-run stand with Shreyas Iyer, said that they are satisfied with their performance as they are peaking at the perfect time before the World Cup. He also spoke about his, KL Rahul and Suryakumar Yadav’s batting performances. Gill elaborated:

“It feels good. Satisfied as a team, we have the momentum at the right time. It depends on the situation, there’s definitely some confidence. I can cover up later, and that confidence is because I am scoring at the moment.

“With the way KL and Surya played, they kept the momentum going. A taget of 400 was going to be difficult on any surface, and the bowlers came out and did their job. I think the six against Green down the ground, it was really special for me.”

With the win in the first two ODIs, India have taken a 2-0 lead in the series. The third and final match of the series will be held at the Saurashtra Cricket Association Stadium in Rajkot on September 27.
