Former Australia captain Aaron Finch has heaped praise on Mohammed Siraj, saying that the India pacer is one of the best bowlers in the world at present.

Mohammed Siraj’s journey in the game so far has been really extraordinary. He made his debut in international cricket in 2019 but could not cement his spot and was dropped soon. But the last two years have been all about Mohammed Siraj. He is now an indispensable part of India’s Test and ODI teams and is currently the number-one ODI bowler in the world.

He reclaimed the top spot in the ICC rankings after his breathtaking display in Asia Cup 2023 where he picked up 6 wickets for 21 runs against Sri Lanka in the final. Earlier this year too, Mohammed Siraj had held the number one spot in the ICC Rankings for ODI bowlers.

Aaron Finch praises Mohammed Siraj:

With Mohammed Siraj’s meteoric rise in the game continuing at an astonishing pace, Aaron Finch has lavished praise on him. Speaking on Start Sports, the former Australia batsman called the India pacer one of the best swing bowlers in the world.

“Well, the reason I retired – Bhuvi. He’s the one that I always tried to avoid, but neither of us are playing now, so that’s I think new ball bowlers who can swing, are a danger to everyone. I think Trent Bolt, Mitchell Starc, and Rabada, these guys, especially Siraj, he’s as good as anyone in the world at the moment,” Finch said.

Former South Africa captain Faf du Plessis also echoed the same sentiments as he agreed with Finch’s comments for Mohammed Siraj. The Proteas legend backed the right-arm pacer to do well in the upcoming ICC World Cup 2023, saying:

“Yeah, I’m similar to Finch. I think it depends on the wickets. You know, if the wicket has got something in it, someone like Siraj who just nibbles the ball a little bit both ways, and he’s trying the off stump the whole time. Boult, those kinds of guys are going to be extremely successful.”

Talking about Siraj’s ODI career so far, he has played 29 games and has picked up an impressive 53 wickets while maintaining an economy rate of less than 5.
