Shreyas Iyer and Shubman Gill were the stars of India’s thrashing win against Australia in the second ODI. Both the batters demolished the Australian bowling lineup adding 200 runs for the 2nd wicket. Shreyas Iyer played a brilliant knock of 105 runs facing just 90 deliveries while Shubman Gill scored his share of 104 runs in 97 deliveries. The Iyer-Gill duo was in full song and the Aussies were on the receiving end of the onslaught.

India managed to put up a giant total of 399 against Australia, credit to the two centurions Shubman Gill and Shreyas Iyer. Shreyas Iyer was awarded the Player of the Match for his performance. Recently, in a video shared by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) on their official website, both Shubman and Shreyas can be seen praising each other and sharing a moment.

Shubman Gill said that Iyer took on the charge and shifted the momentum in India’s favor. The duo was talking about their 200-run partnership. “The way he came in and took on the charge changed the momentum for us,” said Gill. Meanwhile, Shreyas Iyer lauded Gill’s knock, praised his sublime form and said that it is mesmerizing to watch Shubman bat from the other end.

After Shreyas and Shubman were done through with the Aussie attack it was time for Australia to chase this mammoth target of 400. The rain interruption in the second innings saw the DLS coming into effect with Australia needing to score 317 runs in 33 overs. Australia were bowled out for 217 with Ashwin and Jadeja scalping 3 wickets each. Now the third ODI where all the big guns are supposed to return is a dead rubber.

The third ODI between India and Australia will take place on 27 September at the Saurashtra Cricket Association Stadium in Rajkot.
