The 24-year-old India National Cricket Team opening batsman Shubman Gill has highlighted the “best quality” of his skipper Rohit Sharma ahead of the third and final ODI of the three-match series against Australia National Cricket Team.

Gill has performed exceptionally well in the first two ODIs of the three-match series against Australia. He smashed 74 runs at his home ground Mohali in the first ODI and followed it up with a sensational century in the second ODI in Indore.

Gill will not feature in the third ODI against Australia and will miss the match alongside Hardik Pandya, Shardul Thakur, Axar Patel, and Mohammed Shami.

Meanwhile, in an interview with Jio Cinema, Shubman said that Rohit Sharma’s best quality is giving freedom to his players. He elaborated:

“He gives a lot of freedom to players to express themselves. He tells the coaches as well to let the players make their own decisions on the field and that the player should be the best judge, and that is his best quality as a player and captain.”

When asked if his run-up to the World Cup has been perfect, he said:

“Yes, this year has been great for me. The preparation for the World Cup has been good. We have gotten good momentum from the Asia Cup as well. I think peaking at the right time is crucial ahead of a big tournament with so many matches.”

Shubman Gill further said that Team Australia are a really good side and playing against them ahead of the World Cup has given India good preparation. Shubman Gill said:

“Definitely. I think that is a sign of a good team. They beat us in the series we played in March and they came back from 1-0 down. This is a great test before the World Cup match in Chennai, to improve our areas. More important than this series is the match-up in Chennai for the World Cup. All the things that will help us there will be learned over here.”

After winning the first two ODIs, India have taken an unassailable 2-0 lead in the series and the third and final match of the series will be held at the Saurashtra Cricket Association Stadium in Rajkot on September 27.
