Australian opener Mitchell Marsh scored 96 off 84 balls as he gave his team a brilliant start in the third ODI in Rajkot. He added a 78-run opening stand inside 9 overs with David Warner. This was after he was rested in the second ODI.

He slowed down after the first powerplay just for a while but picked up the scoring rate as he blazed away to 96. The all-rounder hit some strong shots as he hit 13 fours and three sixes during his knock.

He said that he was looking to give his team a good start inside the powerplay. Speaking to the broadcasters during the mid-innings break, Marsh opened up on his knock.

” Threw another one away didn’t I? Probably the hottest conditions I’ve faced, wicket was good but I was cooked by the end as you could see. Wicket was really good, we assessed the conditions very early and wanted to get as many as we could in the powerplay to set up a platform,” said Marsh.

Would Have Been Nice To Get Another Four Runs: Mitchell Marsh

He further said that he was disappointed to miss out on the century by just four runs but was happy with the final score that the team put up.

“Personally would’ve been nice to get another 4 runs but happy with our job. We’re going to change the pace, saw that it worked towards the back end there. Was nice, hopefully we can come out and do well, kickstart our India tour. As you saw the wicket slowed up a bit as the ball got older. Hopefully it does the same for us and 352 will be a few too many” said Marsh.

Australia after their 50 overs finished with 352/7 with contributions from David Warner (56), Steve Smith (74), and Marnus Labuschagne (72) apart from Marsh. India now need 353 to win and clean-sweep the Aussies heading into the World Cup.
