The 34-year-old Australia National Cricket Team all-rounder Glenn Maxwell was left absolutely shocked after he grabbed a blinder to dismiss India National Cricket Team captain Rohit Sharma in the dead rubber third ODI at the Saurashtra Cricket Association Stadium in Rajkot on Wednesday, September 27.

Rohit played a terrific knock for India in the third ODI during the run-chase. He came out all guns blazing and smashed the Aussies bowlers all over the park. The Indian captain showcased sheer class and played some of the most beautiful-looking strokes.

He was involved in an outstanding 74-run opening partnership with Washington Sundar, who was promoted to open the innings in the absence of Shubman Gill and Ishan Kishan in the team.

After the dismissal of the young all-rounder, Rohit was joined by the modern-day batting great Virat Kohli in the middle, and the star Indian duo had a 70-run stand before Glenn Maxwell bagged his second wicket of the match.

On the last ball of the 21st over, Maxwell bowled a quicker delivery on the stumps and Rohit backed away to smash it straight. Maxwell had some eye on the ball and was looking to move out of the way. The all-rounder, however, just put his right hand up and clutched the ball in his palms.

Maxwell was himself left stunned after taking the catch and Rohit Sharma, on the other hand, looked extremely dejected as he missed out on a ton. He scored outstanding 81 runs off 51 balls, before walking back to the hut.

Rohit Sharma’s 6 hitting ability is the best – Irfan Pathan

Rohit Sharma also hit 5 brilliant fours and 6 excellent sixes during his knock. He created a new world record for most sixes in a country as he has hit over 257 sixes in India. He went past Martin Guptill’s tally of 256 sixes in New Zealand.

Looking at Rohit’s batting brilliance, Irfan Pathan took to his official X handle, to state that the Indian captain’s six-hitting ability is the best India have ever had among top-order batters.

“Rohit Sharma’s 6 hitting ability is the best we ever had as far as top order batter is concern. Easy as you like,” former India National Cricket Team all-rounder Irfan Pathan wrote on X.
