India National Cricket Team captain Rohit Sharma has said that his side has a clear game plan on how to approach things and they are not at all confused ahead of the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup 2023.

Rohit Sharma’s comments came after the loss in the third ODI of the three-match series against Australia National Cricket Team. After winning the toss, Australia posted a huge total of 352/7 on the board.

Mitchell Marsh (96) and David Warner (56) built a good opening partnership and then Steve Smith (74) and Marnus Labuschagne (72) batted very well to help Australia reach a good total.

Chasing the target, Rohit Sharma played a sensational knock and was involved in two 70-plus run partnerships with Washington Sundar and Virat Kohli, who also hit a brilliant half-century. The middle-order batters KL Rahul and Shreyas Iyer got starts, but they failed to capitalize on it and India got bundled out for just 286 in 49.4 overs to miss out on a series whitewash over the Aussies.

During the post-match presentation ceremony, Rohit Sharma said that he was quite satisfied with his batting performance as well as the overall performance of the team. Rohit Sharma said:

“I’m pretty happy, of course, I would like to go all the way along but if I’m hitting like that I’m happy. The last 7-8 ODIs we have played really well, we have been challenged under different conditions and different teams, I thought we responded to that challenge pretty well. Unfortunately not the result we wanted today.”

I’m pretty happy, more importantly how he feels body-wise – Rohit Sharma on Jasprit Bumrah

Talking about Jasprit Bumrah, Rohit Sharma said that he was happy with Bumrah’s form and fitness. Notably, Bumrah bagged three wickets but he gave away 81 runs in third ODI. Rohit Sharma said:

“[on Bumrah] I’m pretty happy, more importantly how he feels body-wise, he has got so much skill, one bad game can happen to anyone. How he feels mentally and body-wise is key for us and that’s looking good for us.”

Talking about the World Cup 2023, the Indian skipper said that they know where they are headed and there is no confusion in the team. Rohit Sharma said:

“When we talk about the 15 we are very clear what we want. We are not confused, we know where we are headed as a team. It’s a team sport and we want everyone to come and play their part – that’s how we win championships. It’s about looking after the body and try and stay fresh for the next one and half months.”
