The Indian squad for the IND Vs AUS T20 series was expected to be announced after the semi-finals but it has been further delayed till after the finals in order to maintain the excitement of the finals. India will face Australia in the finals of the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023. After the conclusion of the World Cup India is going to face Australia in a five-match T20 series where key Indian players are likely to take a rest and the squad will consist of players who represented India in the Asian Games 2023 in China.

According to reports, the Indian squad will be declared on Monday, November 20. All the selected players have already been notified to assemble in Visakhapatnam on November 21 in order to carry on with the practice and fitness drills.

The two T20I leaders for India in the absence of Rohit Sharma that are Hardik Pandya and Suryakumar Yadav are likely to be unavailable given that Hardik is injured and Suryakumar Yadav will be rested. In their absence, Ruturaj Gaikwad is the front-runner to lead the Indian team against Australia in the T20 series after the World Cup. Ruturaj was leading the Indian side which clinched the Gold Medal in the Asian Games 2023.

Key Players Will Take A Rest For The India Vs Australia T20 Series

Key players like Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma, and Suryakumar Yadav are likely to take a rest for this series which will give an opportunity to young players to showcase their talents. Bhuvneshwar Kumar is reportedly coming back into the squad as the experienced pacer. He has not played in international cricket since 2022 and this might be an opportunity for him to initiate a comeback.

The five-match T20I series will commence just four days after the World Cup in Vishakhapatnam and the last T20 is scheduled to take place on 3rd December in M.Chinnaswamy, Bengaluru. Australia has already announced their squad for the T20I series where Matthew Wade will be leading the Aussies. Australia have not rested key players like David Warner, Steve Smith and Glenn Maxwell. However, the pace trio of Pat Cummins, Mitchell Starc and Josh Hazlewood will take a rest after an immense World Cup campaign.

The much-awaited World Cup final between India and Australia is scheduled for Sunday. Right after the final, these two teams will face each other in the shortest format. India faced Australia in a three-match ODI series right before the World Cup commenced and registered a 2-1 win in the series.
