“Ravi Bishnoi is there but Yuzi (Yuzvendra) Chahal isn’t. It’s a slightly surprising thing to me that you have virtually turned your back on him. You neither played him in ODI cricket nor are you keeping his name for T20Is. Is he not good enough anymore?” said Chopra on Chahal.

Chahal is India’s top wicket-taker in T20I cricket with 96 wickets from 80 T20Is. Chopra meanwhile said that it cannot be of great help if the selectors have already decided that he is not worthy of playing international cricket anymore for the country.

“You start getting a feeling like that, which is not a good feeling because Yuzi Chahal has done well. It seems like the selectors have made up their minds and you can’t do anything if someone has made up their mind,” Aakash Chopra said on Yuzvendra Chahal.

The five-match T20I series between India and Australia begins with the first T20I in Visakhapatnam. The series ends with the final T20I in Bengaluru on December 3.

Sanju Samson‘s absence from the India squad for the upcoming five-match T20I series against Australia has surprised many. With most of India’s senior and first-choice players rested for the series after playing in the recently concluded ICC World Cup, the selectors have named a new-look team.

Suryakumar Yadav has been given the responsibility of leading the inexperienced team while Ruturaj Gaikwad has been named as his deputy for the first three games. There was no place for Sanju Samson even in the second-string side. Soon after the squad was announced, Tharoor took to X to criticize the decision of not picking Sanju Samson for the team. He stated that not only should the batter have been selected, but he should also have been made the captain due to his experience. He also questioned the absence of spinner Yuzvendra Chahal as he wrote:

India National Cricket Team all-rounder Hardik Pandya has been ruled out of the upcoming five-match T20I series against Australia National Cricket Team, as per the latest reports in ESPNcricinfo.

The BCCI selection committee is set to pick the squad for the home series on November 15, the same day when the India National Cricket Team will lock horns with the New Zealand National Cricket Team in the first semi-final of the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 at the iconic Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai.

Hardik Pandya, who has been leading India in T20Is since last year’s T20 World Cup, sustained a left-ankle ligament tear during the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 and got ruled out of the competition.

Reportedly, the BCCI medical panel advised Hardik Pandya a rest of six to eight weeks and were optimistic about his recovery ahead of the semi-finals. However, the swelling failed to recede, causing pain during the fitness tests the all-rounder underwent and he was ruled out of the competition.

VVS Laxman To Take Charge Of Second-string Team India

The BCCI selection committee is likely to rest most of the players, who are currently involved in the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023, for Australia T20Is. The players, who recently won the Gold Medal in the Asian Games 2023, are likely to be named in the squad.

Along with the players, the Rahul Dravid-led coaching staff will also be given much-needed rest with the NCA head VVS Laxman stepping up and taking charge of a young team. Hardik Pandya, who has been leading India in T20Is since last year’s T20 World Cup, sustained a left-ankle ligament tear during the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 and got ruled out of the competition. The fifth and final match of the upcoming T20I series between the India National Cricket Team and the Australia National Cricket Team has reportedly been moved out of Hyderabad due to elections.

The Aussies are set to take on hosts India in a five-match T20I series just after the conclusion of the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023. The matches are set to be played on November 23, 26, 28, December 1, and 3. The venues for the matches were announced as Visakhapatnam, Thiruvananthapuram, Guwahati, Nagpur, and Hyderabad.

According to Sportstar, the BCCI has made a venue change for the fifth T20I match between the teams. Instead of Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad, the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru will be hosting the game due to the upcoming elections.

Notably, the Telangana assembly elections are set to be held on November 30, and the counting of votes is set to be done on December 3, which is the same day IND vs AUS 5th T20I will be played.

A senior Hyderabad Cricket Association (HCA) official said that they didn’t get permission from the police department to host the IND vs AUS match.

“The police department didn’t give us the requisite permission to host the match as on that day the counting will happen. It’s really unfortunate, but we can’t do much,” a senior Hyderabad Cricket Association (HCA) official said, as quoted by Sportstar.

A source revealed that the HCA requested the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) for a change in schedule, but the board denied it.

“We had multiple meetings with the BCCI and requested them for a change in schedule. We could have hosted on December 4, but the board said that the tickets to Australia are already booked and they cannot reschedule the game.

“Australia will be taking a morning flight to New Delhi on December 4 and will then head to their country” the source added.

“From the dressing room to seating arrangements, we did everything, and we were expecting a good turnout as we didn’t get an India game to host in this World Cup. The pending work has been finished. This development is definitely a setback,” he said.

Australia have already named their squad for the India series with the veteran wicketkeeper-batter Matthew Wade being named as the skipper.

Several key players like Pat Cummins, Mitchell Starc and Josh Hazlewood, Cameron Green, and Mitchell Marsh have been rested while star players David Warner, Steve Smith, and Travis Head have been included.

England star Ben Stokes’ 2019 ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup moment was recreated during the third and final ODI of the series between the Rohit Sharma-led India National Cricket Team and Pat Cummins-led Australia National Cricket Team at the Saurashtra Cricket Association Stadium in Rajkot on Wednesday, September 27.

During the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup 2019 final in England, a controversial moment happened that played a crucial role in the scheme of the contest. With three balls left in the match, the fielder’s throw deflected off Ben Stokes’ bat while he dived for a second run and the ball raced away to the boundary for four overthrows.

Meanwhile, a similar kind of incident happened in the third ODI between India and Australia that involved Rohit Sharma. However, unlike Stokes, Rohit’s team weren’t able to win the match.

The incident happened on the third ball of the 18th over, which was bowled by the left-arm pacer Mitchell Starc. Indian captain Rohit casually played a delivery from Starc towards square leg and ran for a single.

Rohit Sharma’s comments came after the loss in the third ODI of the three-match series against Australia National Cricket Team. After winning the toss, Australia posted a huge total of 352/7 on the board.

The Indian skipper decided to call Rahul to collect the series-winning trophy to give him all credit for the 2-1 victory as Rahul was the stand-in skipper when the Men In Blue beat Australia by 5 wickets in the first ODI in Mohali and by 99 runs in second ODI in Indore.

Unfortunately, India were unable to register a historic clean sweep over the Aussies as they faced a 66-run defeat in the third ODI in Rajkot where Rohit Sharma was leading the side.

Notably, India only had 13 players available for the third ODI and among those Ishan Kishan also became unavailable due to his illness as a result, the BCCI called four local state players – Dharmendra Jadeja, Prerak Mankad, Vishwaraj Jadeja, and Harvik Desai – to support the team for drinks and fielding throughout the match.

Fans on X reacted after Australia thumped India by 66 runs in the dead rubber third ODI of the series to avoid the whitewash. The game took place at the Saurashtra Cricket Association Stadium in Rajkot and it was all about Men in Yellow as they were right on the money with bat and ball. 

Australia won the toss and utilized the good batting conditions to a great extent. Openers David Warner (56) and Mitchell Marsh (96) came out all guns blazing as they took the attack to the Indian bowlers and smashed them all over the park for their 78-run opening partnership. 

After the wicket of Warner, Steve Smith (74) and Marsh slammed a 137-run partnership to completely take the game away from India in that phase. However, the Men in Blue chipped in with a few quick wickets after that and were back in the game. But Marnus Labuschagne stepped up for his team. 

He smashed 72 runs that powered Australia to a gigantic total of 352 runs. For India, Jasprit Bumrah picked up three wickets but went for 81 runs. Whereas Kuldeep Yadav picked two wickets as well. Mohammed Siraj and Prasidh Krishna picked one wicket each. 

Chasing the target, captain Rohit Sharma (81) took India off the flyer as he along with Washington Sundar (18) added 74 runs for the opening stand. Virat Kohli (56) then chipped in as well with a magnificent half-century. But Glenn Maxwell saent that trio packing. 

Shreyas Iyer (48) and KL Rahul (26) got the starts but they failed to cash on it and lost their wickets at crucial junctures. Australia kept picking wickets at regular intervals that ruled India out of the game. Ravindra Jadeja (35) tried his best but the target was too much in the end. 

Glenn Maxwell starred with the ball as he picked up four wickets. All the other bowlers were amongst the wickets as Australia bundled out India for 286 runs to win the game by the margin of 66 runs. They would be heading into the World Cup with some confidence now.

After the dismissal of the young all-rounder, Rohit was joined by the modern-day batting great Virat Kohli in the middle, and the star Indian duo had a 70-run stand before Glenn Maxwell bagged his second wicket of the match.

On the last ball of the 21st over, Maxwell bowled a quicker delivery on the stumps and Rohit backed away to smash it straight. Maxwell had some eye on the ball and was looking to move out of the way. The all-rounder, however, just put his right hand up and clutched the ball in his palms.

Veteran commentator Harsha Bhogle and former India head coach Ravi Shastri criticized the pitch at Saurashtra Cricket Association Stadium in Rajkot. Bhogle wasn’t impressed with the flatness of the surface and highlighted that boundary dimensions should be bigger on belter like these.

Australian opener Mitchell Marsh scored 96 off 84 balls as he gave his team a brilliant start in the third ODI in Rajkot. He added a 78-run opening stand inside 9 overs with David Warner. This was after he was rested in the second ODI.

He slowed down after the first powerplay just for a while but picked up the scoring rate as he blazed away to 96. The all-rounder hit some strong shots as he hit 13 fours and three sixes during his knock.

Former Indian cricketer Saba Karim talked about Ruturaj Gaikwad being seen as a future captaincy prospect. He said that BCCI picking him as a skipper for the Asian Games indicates that he’s considered a three-format player by the team management for the future. 

Saba Karim in interaction with the Times of India said that Ruturaj Gaikwad has shown leadership qualities in the domestic circuit. He also added that the young batter is the only player in the Asian Games squad team, who captains his state team. 

Saba Karim also believes that the upcoming Asian Games will be an opportunity for Ruturaj Gaikwad to showcase his leadership skills. He remarked that selectors also will have a keen eye. The former Indian selector elaborated: 

“The moment you pick a youngster like Ruturaj Gaikwad as captain it means that the selectors, maybe not now, but two or three years down the line are looking at him like that. Right now, Ruturaj Gaikwad is singled out as a player who can play all three formats. He has done that as well for his state Maharashtra. He has shown some very good leadership qualities while leading Maharashtra in the domestic matches that were held last season. 

That is why selectors have chosen him to lead the side because the rest of the players are all youngsters and I don’t think all of them have led their state side. So, this is a perfect opportunity for Ruturaj as well as the selectors to have a closer look at him in terms of leadership qualities.” 

Ruturaj Gaikwad has been one of the best youngsters in India. He has been part of the senior Indian team for a while now and his experience surely would be handy for the team in the big tournament, which will take place in T20 format. “So, I think selectors have created a profile for both these players – Tilak Varma and Shivam Dube. Tilak is a top-order batsman who can bowl right-arm off-spin.

“Shivam is a left-handed power-hitting batsman who comes in at 5, 6, or maybe 7 and who can bowl right arm medium pace. Their roles are pretty well defined. There is a huge difference between these two profiles,” he concluded.

Shubman Gill has continued his upward surge in the ICC Rankings for ODI batters thanks to his consistent displays in the 50-over format in recent times.

In the latest ICC Rankings released by the ICC on Wednesday (September 27), Shubman Gill has consolidated his position at the second spot and is now in touching distance of number one ranked batsman Babar Azam. The right-handed batsman has been in stunning form in recent weeks.

He was the highest run-scorer in the Asia Cup 2023 where he scored 302 runs at an average of more than 75. In the ongoing series against Australia too, he is the leading run-scorer. Shubman Gill scored 74 runs in the first ODI and 104 runs in the second ODI before being rested for the third ODI.

And the impressive performances have now helped him reach a new career-high rating on the updated list for ODI batters, The India star now has a total of 847 rating points and is just 10 rating points behind Babar. Team India have made a number of changes to their playing eleven for the third and final ODI against Australia in Rajkot. A few changes were very much on the cards due to the return of captain Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, Hardik Pandya, and Kuldeep Yadav.

All four players were rested for the first two ODIs of the series after the triumphant campaign in Asia Cup 2023. While the likes of Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, Kuldeep Yadav, and Mohd Siraj will return to the XI, Shubman Gill, Shardul Thakur, Prasidh Krishna, Tilak Varma, Mukesh Kumar, Axar Patel and Ruturaj Gaikwad will miss the third ODI. Gaikwad was picked only for the first two games, while Gill and Shardul are rested ahead of the World Cup. 

There are injury concerns with Axar Patel who has not recovered from his left quadriceps strain as per Cricbuzz. He is currently rehabilitating at the NCA. Axar was not picked for the first two games. Axar prolonged injury means that Ravichandran Ashwin will get more game time in the third ODI after he picked up three wickets in the second ODI. 

Australia, too fielded a weak bowling attack in the first ODI with Pat Cummins and Mitchell Starc rested. Starc spoke to the media saying that he is feeling a lot better and the groin injury has recovered with time. He will be playing the third ODI against India followed by the two warm-up games to get into his groove. Cummins and Hazlewood should play the third ODI as well as injury concerns still linger over Glenn Maxwell. If not Maxwell, the other regular players should be back in the IND vs AUS 3rd ODI.

With the series, decided, the third ODI will be more about the key players from the two teams spending some time out in the middle and looking to get back to form. In short, the teams will look to fine-tune their final playing XI for the World Cup in the third ODI.

IND vs AUS Today Match Prediction- 3rd ODI, Who Will Win Today’s ODI Match? 2023. The IND vs AUS 3rd ODI will be played in Rajkot on September 26. The match starts at 1.30 pm IST and is the final ODI of the series before the two teams meet in the World Cup. India have won the series and will be looking for a clean sweep. Australia will be looking for a consolation win and not conceding another series loss. 

Heading into the third ODI, there will be a lot of changes to the squads of the two teams. Both teams should look to field their best XI, keeping their best combinations in mind for the World Cup. There are injury concerns in both camps and it will be interesting to see how they cover it up. 

Australia benched both Pat Cummins and Mitchell Starc in the second ODI. Starc has reportedly recovered from his groin injury after spending a lot of time on recovery. Cummins missing the second ODI was more of him being rested.
