"You Have Virtually Turned Your Back On Him" Aakash Chopra On Yuzvendra Chahal's Snub From Australia T20I Series

Yuzvendra Chahal and Sanju Samson were the two big names missing from the Indian T20I squad that was named for the five-match series against Australia. In the process, the BCCI selection committee continued to keep the two cricketers out of the Indian team.

Ravi Bishnoi, Axar Patel, and Washington Sundar are the three specialist spinners in the side, However, Chahal’s snub yet again sparks the debate around his future with the Indian cricket team. He played his last T20I against West Indies in August earlier this year.

Aakash Chopra in a video shared on his YouTube channel spoke about Chahal’s exclusion from the Indian T20I squad and shared his feelings regarding the future of the Indian leggie with the national team.

Is He Not Good Enough Anymore: Aakash Chopra On Yuzvendra Chahal

“Ravi Bishnoi is there but Yuzi (Yuzvendra) Chahal isn’t. It’s a slightly surprising thing to me that you have virtually turned your back on him. You neither played him in ODI cricket nor are you keeping his name for T20Is. Is he not good enough anymore?” said Chopra on Chahal.

Chahal is India’s top wicket-taker in T20I cricket with 96 wickets from 80 T20Is. Chopra meanwhile said that it cannot be of great help if the selectors have already decided that he is not worthy of playing international cricket anymore for the country.

“You start getting a feeling like that, which is not a good feeling because Yuzi Chahal has done well. It seems like the selectors have made up their minds and you can’t do anything if someone has made up their mind,” Aakash Chopra said on Yuzvendra Chahal.

The five-match T20I series between India and Australia begins with the first T20I in Visakhapatnam. The series ends with the final T20I in Bengaluru on December 3.

IND vs AUS: "If He Plays That Game... "- Mitchell Marsh Thinks Travis Head Will Miss The First T20I Against India

Australian opener Travis Head is fresh off his match-winning 137 against India in the ICC World Cup 2023 final in Ahmedabad. His stellar knock powered Australia to their sixth World Cup title as India’s wait to win their next ICC title continued.

Head has now performed in two ICC finals against India. He scored 163 against India in the WTC final at The Oval. He followed it up with another century in the World Cup final. The Southpaw missed the first few games due to a broken hand.

He made a grand return in the match against England with a century, He kept his form going scoring a quickfire fifty against South Africa in the semi-final. He saved his best for the final scoring a century to remember.

Meanwhile, Head’s Australian teammate Mitchell Marsh made an interesting revelation, a day before Australia’s first T20I against India. He hinted at Head possibly missing the first T20I to be played in Vizag. Marsh said that Head might miss the first T20I due to the ongoing celebrations in the Aussie camp after they won their sixth World Cup title.

Mitchell Marsh Hints At Travis Head’s Absence From 1st T20I Against India

“I’m no selector or coach but if he plays that game it’ll be a miracle,” Marsh said.

The Australian all-rounder also responded to the ongoing criticism regarding his viral picture where he can be seen resting his legs on the World Cup trophy. The Indian fans especially have criticized him for his recent gesture. For Marsh though, he has not had much time to think about it.

“I haven’t seen a lot, but there you go,” he added.

To Follow Dad’s Footsteps Is Pretty Crazy- Mitchell Marsh

Interstingly, Mitchell Marsh’s father Geoff Marsh was a part of the Australian squad that won its first World Cup title in 1987 also held in India. Geoff scored 428 runs in that edition ending as the third-highest run-getter. His son Mitchell scored 441 runs including two centuries.

“It was 40 years ago that Dad won in India, and to follow in his footsteps is pretty crazy. To have him there, and celebrate winning World Cups – he’s a past player, so always love having those guys in the change rooms. It was awesome,” Mitchell Marsh said.

Indian all-rounder Hardik Pandya is reportedly expected to return to action during the upcoming Indian Premier League (IPL). As per reports, the selectors are considering grooming a captain for ODIs, considering Hardik Pandya’s susceptibility to injuries.

The Indian vice-captain suffered an injury during the match against Bangladesh in the recent ICC World Cup 2023. He was then ruled out of the World Cup and will also not be part of the five-match T20I series against Australia, which is set to commence on November 23.

Selectors May Look For Options In ODIs – The Source

According to the Times of India report, Rohit Sharma is likely to focus on Test cricket for the upcoming World Test Championship cycle until 2025. The source indicates that selectors might explore alternative options for ODIs due to Hardik’s injury-proneness.

“As of now, it seems Rohit will be focusing a lot of his energy on the Test format for the next cycle of World Test Championship which runs till 2025. Grooming a captain for the longer formats is a key part of the agenda. With Hardik Pandya prone to injuries, selectors may look for options in ODIs,” the source claimed.

Hardik Pandya Set Return To Action During IPL 2024

The Baroda-born cricketer was set to lead the team against Australia in the T20I series. However, Pandya is still recovering from the ankle injury and is expected to be out of action for at least two months. Hardik is unlikely to be a match-fit by the end of January next year.

The Men in Blue will start their preparations for the T20 World Cup with the upcoming T20I series. After the Australia series, India will be on an all-format tour of South Africa. India will next face Afghanistan in a three-match T20I series at home in January. Following that they will be involved in a 5-match Test series against England, which will conclude in March. Meanwhile, the all-rounder is set to return to action during the IPL 2024, where he will lead the Gujarat Titans.

Sanju Samson‘s absence from the India squad for the upcoming five-match T20I series against Australia has surprised many. With most of India’s senior and first-choice players rested for the series after playing in the recently concluded ICC World Cup, the selectors have named a new-look team.

Suryakumar Yadav has been given the responsibility of leading the inexperienced team while Ruturaj Gaikwad has been named as his deputy for the first three games. Shreyas Iyer will join the squad for the fourth and fifth T20I as vice-captain. For the middle order, the selectors have selected the likes of Tilak Varma, Rinku Singh, Jitesh Sharma, and Shivam Dube along with stand-in captain Suryakumar Yadav.

There was no place for Sanju Samson even in the second-string side. This is the second huge blow for the wicketkeeper-batter in recent times as the selectors have made it pretty clear that they are not willing to give him any more chances. He was also snubbed for the Asian Games where the BCCI had sent a second-string side under the captaincy of Gaikwad.

Congress leader miffed with Sanju Samson’s absence:

Just before the Asian Games, Sanju Samson was getting a chance in India’s limited-overs teams regularly. However, things have changed in recent times and it looks like the Kerala star has completely fallen down the pecking order. The treatment meted out to him, however, has not gone down well with many including senior congress leader and an ardent cricket fan Shashi Tharoor.

Soon after the squad was announced, Tharoor took to X to criticize the decision of not picking Sanju Samson for the team. He stated that not only should the batter have been selected, but he should also have been made the captain due to his experience. He also questioned the absence of spinner Yuzvendra Chahal as he wrote:

“This is truly inexplicable. @IamSanjuSamson should have not just been selected, he should have led the side in the absence of all the seniors. His captaincy experience with Kerala and @rajasthanroyals is more current than SKY’s.

“Our selectors need to explain themselves to the cricket-loving public. And why no @yuzi_chahal either?”

India squad for Australia T20I series:

Suryakumar Yadav (captain), Ruturaj Gaikwad (vice-captain), Ishan Kishan, Yashasvi Jaiswal, Tilak Varma, Rinku Singh, Jitesh Sharma (wk), Washington Sundar, Axar Patel, Shivam Dubey, Ravi Bishnoi, Arshdeep Singh, Prasidh Krishna, Avesh Khan, Mukesh Kumar.

In their absence, Ruturaj Gaikwad is the front-runner to lead the Indian team against Australia in the T20 series after the World Cup. Ruturaj was leading the Indian side which clinched the Gold Medal in the Asian Games 2023.

Key Players Will Take A Rest For The India Vs Australia T20 Series

Key players like Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma, and Suryakumar Yadav are likely to take a rest for this series which will give an opportunity to young players to showcase their talents. Bhuvneshwar Kumar is reportedly coming back into the squad as the experienced pacer. He has not played in international cricket since 2022 and this might be an opportunity for him to initiate a comeback.

The five-match T20I series will commence just four days after the World Cup in Vishakhapatnam and the last T20 is scheduled to take place on 3rd December in M.Chinnaswamy, Bengaluru. Australia has already announced their squad for the T20I series where Matthew Wade will be leading the Aussies. Australia have not rested key players like David Warner, Steve Smith and Glenn Maxwell. However, the pace trio of Pat Cummins, Mitchell Starc and Josh Hazlewood will take a rest after an immense World Cup campaign.

The much-awaited World Cup final between India and Australia is scheduled for Sunday. Right after the final, these two teams will face each other in the shortest format. India faced Australia in a three-match ODI series right before the World Cup commenced and registered a 2-1 win in the series.

India National Cricket Team all-rounder Hardik Pandya has been ruled out of the upcoming five-match T20I series against Australia National Cricket Team, as per the latest reports in ESPNcricinfo.

The BCCI selection committee is set to pick the squad for the home series on November 15, the same day when the India National Cricket Team will lock horns with the New Zealand National Cricket Team in the first semi-final of the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 at the iconic Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai.

Hardik Pandya, who has been leading India in T20Is since last year’s T20 World Cup, sustained a left-ankle ligament tear during the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 and got ruled out of the competition.

Reportedly, the BCCI medical panel advised Hardik Pandya a rest of six to eight weeks and were optimistic about his recovery ahead of the semi-finals. However, the swelling failed to recede, causing pain during the fitness tests the all-rounder underwent and he was ruled out of the competition.

VVS Laxman To Take Charge Of Second-string Team India

The BCCI selection committee is likely to rest most of the players, who are currently involved in the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023, for Australia T20Is. The players, who recently won the Gold Medal in the Asian Games 2023, are likely to be named in the squad.

Along with the players, the Rahul Dravid-led coaching staff will also be given much-needed rest with the NCA head VVS Laxman stepping up and taking charge of a young team. Some reports have also claimed that Laxman is in line to become the next head coach of Team India if Rahul Dravid decides against renewing his contract, which will end after the World Cup.

Meanwhile, the Men In Blue will take on the Aussies in a five-match T20I series just after the conclusion of the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023. The matches are set to be played on November 23, 26, 28, December 1, and 3. The venues for the matches were announced as Visakhapatnam, Thiruvananthapuram, Guwahati, Nagpur, and Hyderabad. Reportedly, Bengaluru will host the last game instead of Hyderabad.

In a massive blow for the India National Cricket Team, star all-rounder and T20I captain, Hardik Pandya, is all set to miss the upcoming T20I series against the Australia National Cricket Team at home, as per PTI.

The Men In Blue will take on the Aussies in a five-match T20I series just after the conclusion of the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023.

Hardik Pandya, who has been leading India in T20Is since last year’s T20 World Cup, sustained a left-ankle ligament tear during the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 and got ruled out of the competition. He will need more time to recover and might get fit in time for the South Africa T20Is, which will be played from December 10.

“There is some time before Hardik can be declared fit and available for selection. It would be more practical for him to try and complete his rehabilitation with a possible ‘RTP’ (Return To Play) during the SA series. It will certainly be the NCA Sports Science team’s call,” a senior BCCI source privy to the developments told PTI on conditions of anonymity.

The squad for Australia T20Is is likely to be announced after India’s semi-final match in the World Cup 2023 and Suryakumar Yadav and Ruturaj Gaikwad are two players who are in contention for India captaincy.

Suryakumar Yadav is the designated vice-captain in T20Is and is the front-runner for captaincy. In case SKY asks for rest, Ruturaj Gaikwad, who recently led India to a Gold Medal win in the Asian Games 2023, will be leading the side.

Sanju Samson And Yuzvendra Chahal Set For India Comeback

India’s squad for the Australia T20Is will mainly consist of the players who played in the Ireland T20Is and the Asian Games 2023. The likes of Sanju Samson, Axar Patel, and Yuzvendra Chahal are expected to return.

Also, pacers Arshdeep Singh, Avesh Khan, and Mukesh Kumar are likely to be picked for the home series as the first-choice pacers will be given much-needed rest ahead of the South Africa tour.

Talking about some new inclusions, the names of three players – Abhishek Sharma, Riyan Parag, and Bhuvneshwar Kumar – have been popping up as they performed exceptionally well in the recent Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy. According to reports, Riyan Parag’s name is under consideration for the series against the Aussies but nothing has been finalized as of yet.

After the ICC World Cup 2023, India will take on Australia in a T20I series. The IND vs AUS T20I series will witness five encounters, set to be played from November 23 to December 3.

Many key players are expected to be part of IND vs AUS T20Is. The ICC T20 World Cup takes place next year and it is not wrong to say that Team India will begin the preparation with the IND vs AUS series itself.

Players who are dropped from the series can be sure that they might not get a place in the T20 World Cup squad next year. Here we take a look at 5 Indian players who can return from T20Is if not named in India T20 squad vs Australia.

IND vs AUS T20 2023 India Squad: 5 Indian Players Who Can Retire From T20Is If Not Named In India T20 Squad vs Australia

5. Shikhar Dhawan

<yoastmark class=

Shikhar Dhawan is the first Indian player on this list. Dhawan has not retired from any format but he has vanished from the national team. The left-handed batter used to represent the team in ODIs but lost his place to Shubman Gill ahead of the ICC World Cup 2023.

With Gill’s fabulous batting show in ODIs, it is highly unlikely that Dhawan will return to ODIs. Similarly, his T20I career is also finished. Dhawan last played a T20I match in July 2021.

4. Dinesh Karthik

<yoastmark class=

Dinesh Karthik is another Indian player who might retire from T20Is if not picked in the IND vs AUS T20I series. Karthik made a surprising comeback to the national team last year and played in the ICC T20 World Cup 2022. However, post his batting failure in the tournament, he was dropped from the national team.

For wicketkeepers, India has options like Ishan Kishan, KL Rahul, and Rishan Pant. Unlike Karthik, they are young and have a lot of years ahead in their career. Hence, it is almost impossible for Karthik to make a comeback to the T20I side and he might announce his retirement soon.

3. Bhuvneshwar Kumar

<yoastmark class=

Bhuvneshwar Kumar was a confirmed member of T20Is and ODIs till last year. However, since the start of 2023, Kumar was sidelined to make way for young pacers. Pacers like Arshdeep Singh have impressed with his performance in T20Is.

Similarly, senior pacers like Mohammed Shami, Mohammed Siraj, and Jasprit Bumrah are crucial members of the pace department. Kumar also failed to impress with his show in IPL 2023. Hence, he might retire from the shortest format if not picked for the IND vs AUS T20I series.

2. Ravichandran Ashwin

<yoastmark class=

Ravichandran Ashwin is another player on this list. Ashwin is a prominent member of the Test team. However, he is overlooked when it comes to ODIs and T20I. Although he makes a few appearances in the limited-overs format, he is not the first-choice spinner for selectors.

Ashwin was part of the ICC T20 World Cup squad last year. However, post the tournament, he did not feature in the shortest format. In the spin department, players like Yuzvendra Chahal, Kuldeep Yadav, and Ravi Bishnoi are in the queue to get a place in the T20 World Cup. Hence, Ashwin might find it hard to get a place in the forthcoming T20I series.

Umesh Yadav is another player who can retire from T20Is if not picked in IND vs AUS T20I series. The right-arm pacer only represents the team in the Test format. He last played a T20I game in October 2022 against South Africa.

With the emergence of pacers like Arshdeep Singh, Mohammed Siraj, and Avesh Khan among others, Umesh Yadav would not get opportunities to make a comeback to the T20I team.

India vs Australia: Match Preview– ICC World Cup 2023, Match 5

The fifth and final match of the upcoming T20I series between the India National Cricket Team and the Australia National Cricket Team has reportedly been moved out of Hyderabad due to elections.

The Aussies are set to take on hosts India in a five-match T20I series just after the conclusion of the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023. The matches are set to be played on November 23, 26, 28, December 1, and 3. The venues for the matches were announced as Visakhapatnam, Thiruvananthapuram, Guwahati, Nagpur, and Hyderabad.

According to Sportstar, the BCCI has made a venue change for the fifth T20I match between the teams. Instead of Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad, the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru will be hosting the game due to the upcoming elections.

Notably, the Telangana assembly elections are set to be held on November 30, and the counting of votes is set to be done on December 3, which is the same day IND vs AUS 5th T20I will be played.

A senior Hyderabad Cricket Association (HCA) official said that they didn’t get permission from the police department to host the IND vs AUS match.

“The police department didn’t give us the requisite permission to host the match as on that day the counting will happen. It’s really unfortunate, but we can’t do much,” a senior Hyderabad Cricket Association (HCA) official said, as quoted by Sportstar.

Bengaluru To Host India vs Australia 5th T20I Instead Of Hyderabad

A source revealed that the HCA requested the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) for a change in schedule, but the board denied it.

“We had multiple meetings with the BCCI and requested them for a change in schedule. We could have hosted on December 4, but the board said that the tickets to Australia are already booked and they cannot reschedule the game.

“Australia will be taking a morning flight to New Delhi on December 4 and will then head to their country” the source added.

“From the dressing room to seating arrangements, we did everything, and we were expecting a good turnout as we didn’t get an India game to host in this World Cup. The pending work has been finished. This development is definitely a setback,” he said.

Australia have already named their squad for the India series with the veteran wicketkeeper-batter Matthew Wade being named as the skipper.

Several key players like Pat Cummins, Mitchell Starc and Josh Hazlewood, Cameron Green, and Mitchell Marsh have been rested while star players David Warner, Steve Smith, and Travis Head have been included.

Australia’s T20I squad: Matthew Wade (capt), David Warner, Travis Head, Steven Smith, Glenn Maxwell, Matt Short, Marcus Stoinis, Tim David, Josh Inglis, Jason Behrendorff, Sean Abbott, Nathan Ellis, Spencer Johnson, Adam Zampa, Tanveer Sangha

In-form Riyan Parag is likely to be rewarded with his maiden India call-up for his stunning display in the ongoing Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy (SMAT) 2023. The middle-order batsman has been one of the best performers in domestic cricket in the last few months.

Having faced severe criticism for his poor performances in the IPL earlier this year, Riyan Parag has managed to turn things around by scoring heavily in the domestic circuit. Right after the IPL ended, he starred with both bat and ball in the Deodhar Trophy. The Assam youngster was the highest run-getter and joint third-highest wicket-taker. He was also adjudged the Player of the Tournament as he scored 354 runs in addition to picking up 11 wickets.

Riyan Parag continued his brilliant form in SMAT too where he played a key role in Assam’s dream run to the final. The Rajasthan Royals star smashed a world record seven half-centuries in a row as he finished his campaign with an impressive 510 runs. He also displayed his all-round skills by picking up 11 wickets. He is currently the highest run-scorer in the tournament and is also the only one to reach the 500-run mark.

Riyan Parag to get India call-up:

According to a report in the Times of India, Riyan Parag is likely to find a place in Team India’s squad for the upcoming T20I series against Australia. The series will take place right after the conclusion of the World Cup and most of the big names are likely to be respected. The series will get underway on November 23, four days after the World Cup final.

“Parag has been performing consistently in domestic cricket this season. It’s hard to ignore his all-round performances. To add to his worth, he’s also an excellent fielder,” a source told the news outlet.

Talking about his T20 career, he has played 98 matches and has scored 2043 runs at an average of 30 and a strike rate of over 140. He has hit 18 half-centuries in the shortest format of the game. He has also picked up 41 wickets in T20s.

Australia’s interim T20 captain, Matthew Wade, has addressed questions about his leadership role on the tour of India, emphasizing his desire to be a senior figure in the team for the upcoming T20 World Cup in the Caribbean and the United States, though uncertainties loom regarding his status as the first-choice wicketkeeper.

Matthew Wade’s appointment as the captain of Australia’s T20 squad for the five-match series against India raised eyebrows, but it had long been in the pipeline, with selectors mindful of managing the workloads of senior players.

Currently, Australia lacks a permanent T20I captain, with Mitchell Marsh recently filling the role in the South Africa series, following Aaron Finch’s retirement. Marsh, however, is being rested from the series against India to prepare for the upcoming home Test summer. Notably, ODI and Test captain Pat Cummins, along with Josh Hazlewood, Mitchell Starc, and Cameron Green, is also absent from the tour.

Matthew Wade, who served as Finch’s vice-captain, had led Australia in seven T20Is when Finch was injured, including the final group stage game of the 2022 T20 World Cup against Afghanistan. Initially, Wade was not selected for the South Africa series as selectors aimed to provide Josh Inglis with an opportunity behind the stumps. Nevertheless, Wade ended up touring South Africa as an injury replacement for Glenn Maxwell, though he didn’t play.

In a recent interview, Matthew Wade confessed that he hadn’t actively pursued a leadership role but believed in letting one’s performance dictate these matters. He expressed his gratitude for the opportunity to captain in a country as enjoyable as India and for being considered for a senior role in the team.

He said, “I’ve never really strived so much for leadership,” he said. “I think you kind of look after your own backyard and those things kind of take care of themselves.

“With the relationships that I’ve got with [coach] Andrew McDonald and obviously [head selector] George Bailey and all the coaching staff around the Australian team and selectors, whatever situation I was going to be going over to India in it would have been in a senior role anyway.
“So it’s just a bit of a cherry on top after a long career I suppose, to get another chance to go and captain in a country that is so much fun to play, it’s going to be a hell of a time.”

Matthew Wade Wants To Be The First Choice Wicketkeeper For T20 World Cup In 2024

While Wade’s leadership credentials are gaining attention, his on-field contributions remain significant. His decision to skip Shield cricket for Tasmania last summer and instead participate in various T20 leagues worldwide has allowed him to maintain his form and hunger for international cricket.

Matthew Wade acknowledges the competition from Josh Inglis, who has excelled as the No.1 ODI wicketkeeper-batter. While both players have been named in the squad to face India, Matthew Wade is set to assume the role of captain and first-choice wicketkeeper. However, he remains uncertain about his role at the T20 World Cup next year, indicating his willingness to adapt to whatever position the team requires.

“We’ve got the T20 World Cup coming up, whether I’m the number one keeper there and play, whether that be that I go as a spare bat/keeper I’m not 100% sure. I don’t know if the selectors and the coaches are 100% sure.
“But I want to be there. I want to play. If it ends up being that No.7 role as the wicketkeeper, I feel like I’ve probably nailed that spot down in the last few years for the Australian T20 side. So fingers crossed I get the nod in that but if I don’t I’m really comfortable going and playing my role,” he said.

The T20 series against India is expected to mark the beginning of Australia’s preparations for the T20 World Cup in 2023. With limited T20Is scheduled before the tournament, Matthew Wade is excited to witness emerging talents stepping up in India, as several senior players have been rested, and the squad features some promising young cricketers.

“It’s a really exciting squad,” Wade said. “I didn’t expect to see some of the older faces in there. The guys have been over there for so long, to be honest, and they’re going to hang around and play in those games. Matt Short, who’s come on in leaps and bounds in the last little bit, he’ll be around there. I was in South Africa and I saw these young guys perform at the international level and I’m excited to go out and see them do it in India.”

As the T20 World Cup looms on the horizon, Australia’s mission to defend their title begins in earnest, with Wade and the team eager to make their mark on the world stage once again.

Cricket Australia (CA) has announced a 14-member squad for the upcoming five-match T20I series against India, set to commence on November 23. Wicketkeeper-batter Matthew Wade has been appointed captain for this series as several senior players are taking a rest.

Experienced players such as David Warner, Steve Smith, Travis Head, Glenn Maxwell, Marcus Stoinis, and Adam Zampa are part of the squad. Meanwhile, Mitchell Starc, Mitchell Marsh, Pat Cummins, and Josh Hazlewood will return home after the ICC World Cup 2023.

Matthew Wade has taken up the role of captain on an interim basis, and Australia has been without a permanent T20 captain since February. Wade hasn’t played international cricket since the T20 World Cup but was brought in as cover for the series against South Africa.

Matthew Wade Has Captained The Team Previously – George Bailey

Australian cricket team chief selector George Bailey highlighted Matthew Wade’s previous experience as a captain and his leadership qualities. Bailey drew a parallel with Mitch Marsh’s captaincy during the South Africa series.

“Matthew has captained the team previously, is a leader in the group and we look forward to him taking the reins for this series. Like Mitch Marsh in the South Africa series, this is another great opportunity to further deepen our international leadership experience and depth,” said Bailey.

Players like Tim David, Sean Abbott, Josh Inglis, Jason Behrendorff, and Nathan Ellis have been selected for the series, while Matt Short, Spencer Johnson, and Tanveer Sangha retained their spots. However, Ashton Agar has been ruled out due to a calf injury.

Ashton Agar

Ashton Agar has suffered yet another injury setback and looks set to spend a few more weeks on the sidelines. The left-arm spinner has suffered a recurrence of the calf injury that ruled him out of the ongoing ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup 2023.

He has played just three international matches this year and only four competitive games since January. Ashton Agar returned to action during the ODI series in South Africa in September, just before the start of the World Cup. He played a key role in the first match before the calf injury ruled him out of the next two games.

After that, he returned home for the birth of his first child. He was expected to return to India for the World Cup but failed to recover in time. Middle-order batsman Marnus Labuschagne replaced him in the Australia squad. And the same injury has now sidelined him once again. As per ESPNCricinfo, he is also doubtful for the five-match T20I series against India that is scheduled to take place right after the World Cup.

Ashton Agar sidelined for lengthy period:

Ashton Agar was working on returning to action in November through the Marsh Cup and getting ready for the five-match series in India. However, the latest injury setback has delayed his comeback.

“Given Agar is a nationally contracted player, WA Cricket will work closely with Cricket Australia to determine his return to play,” a WACA statement said.

The 30-year-old now will be eyeing to recover in time for the start of the Big Bash League. The tournament is scheduled to get underway in December. He was a part of the Perth Scorchers’ side that won the league last year although he did not have the best of the outings. In 10 games, Ashton Agar had managed only 6 wickets. With the T20 World Cup to be played next year, he will be eyeing a strong campaign in the BBL.

VVS Laxman

The National Cricket Academy (NCA) head VVS Laxman is likely to be the head coach of the India National Cricket Team after the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup 2023 for the Australia T20I series, according to a recent PTI report.

The Rohit Sharma-led side are currently participating in the World Cup 2023 at home and have delivered outstanding performances. The next challenge of the Men In Blue is a 5-match T20I series against Australia at home.

For the Australia series, head coach Rahul Dravid is likely to be rested alongside his coaching staff as well as the players taking part in the marquee tournament. In Dravid’s absence, Laxman is likely to take charge of the team.

“VVS Laxman has always been in charge when Rahul has taken a break and same thing is likely to continue for the series just after the World Cup,” a BCCI source told PTI on condition of anonymity.

VVS Laxman Is The Top Candidate To Succeed Rahul Dravid As India Coach – Reports

The contract of Rahul Dravid with BCCI is set to expire post-World Cup and there is no confirmation about whether the India legend will continue as head coach. The BCCI could request him to continue as coach, but the final decision will rest on Rahul Dravid.

Reportedly, there is a possibility that Dravid could return to the Indian Premier League (IPL) in a coaching capacity, having already worked with teams like Rajasthan Royals and Delhi Capitals in the cash-rich T20 league.

If Dravid decides not to continue as head coach of the India National Cricket Team and the BCCI invites fresh applications, the top candidate to take over the role is the NCA head VVS Laxman as he knows the system and pathways inside out.

Coming back to India vs Australia T20I series, the players who were part of the West Indies T20Is, Ireland T20Is, and Asian Games are likely to be seen in action against the Aussies as the seniors will be given much-needed rest ahead of the high-profile series against South Africa.

The 5-match T20I series between India and Australia will begin on November 23 in Visakhapatnam and the final T20I will be played on December 3 in Hyderabad.

It was all smiles for KL Rahul, who led India to the series win against Australia. It was the first time India defeated Australia in a bilateral ODI Series since 2020. KL Rahul led the Indian side in the absence of Rohit Sharma and India won the first two matches of the three-match ODI Series. KL Rahul scored consecutive fifties in the first two matches and was spot-on with his bowling changes and field placements.

KL Rahul has been in terrific form since returning from his injury, the batter silenced his critics after scoring a brilliant century against Pakistan in the Asia Cup Super 4s. It was a really special comeback from KL Rahul in the Asia Cup 2023 and he carried his form against Australia in the ODI series scoring consecutive half-centuries alongside keeping the wickets and leading the side.

KL Rahul said that winning the series against Australia is a huge morale booster since the Kangaroos have had the upper hand against India in the past couple of years. He also talked about how crucial was the Asia Cup win for the side given that India were in must-win situations a lot of time. Eventually, India won the Asia Cup 2023 and KL Rahul made a huge contribution to the win.

KL Rahul Talked About The Series Win Against Australia

“Yeah, I mean, the last few weeks have been the same mindset for everybody. The Asia Cup was really important for us. Every game was a must-win game, almost. You’re playing really competitive teams the same. It was the same here in this series. You’re playing a great Australian team, and they’ve always had the edge over us in India in the last couple of years,” said Rahul on the series win.

KL Rahul is all set for the World Cup and hopefully, he will be batting at number 4 and will also keep wickets for the team. Ishan Kishan is another Wicketkeeping option but Rahul has been consistent with his batting and keeping so it will be a tough choice for the team management to select the wicketkeeper. The Asia Cup combination is one of the best bets as it includes both Kishan and Rahul and both of them have been in great form.

KL Rahul has been in top form since returning from his injury in Asia Cup 2023. Rahul scored a brilliant century against Pakistan in the Super 4s of the Asia Cup and was also handy behind the wickets. No doubt that KL Rahul has shown a lot of improvement and the team has a lot of expectations from him. In the IND Vs AUS ODI Series, we saw him leading the side to a series win and showcasing his captaincy skills alongside batting and wicket-keeping.

Since being back from injury, KL Rahul has not missed or rested for a single match and has been handling both the roles of a wicketkeeper and a middle-order batter. He also took the responsibility of leading the side in the absence of Rohit Sharma. He is in thick action and is not taking any breaks after missing out on the move for nearly 5 months due to his injury.

Mark Waugh was keen enough to ask KL Rahul about his Workload. As we have witnessed KL Rahul performing multiple roles in the team since returning and during the first ODI between India and Australia, the conditions were extreme in Mohali. “What about the workload personally, you’ve got to keep wickets, you have got to bat at the top of the order or No.4 in these conditions. I felt sorry for you in Mohali. I just don’t know how you do it. Is it hard to cope with all that in the heat?”  asked Waugh.

KL Rahul Thought Mohali Would Be Easier Than Colombo

“It has been really challenging physically. The weather and conditions in Colombo were what we thought would be the worst we could get but then we turned up in Mohali… I said this after that game as well, I said in the huddle ‘We’ve come from Colombo, this can’t be worse.’ It is Mohali, it must be pleasant. Three overs later, when Mitch Marsh got out everybody looked at each other and said skip, you’ve made the worst decision by opting to bat. It is a good challenge that we get used to it because we will have similar conditions to deal with in the World Cup,” he said.

KL Rahul has been in red-hot form since returning from his injury, he has scored 2 half-centuries and a century and has also been keeping wickets. With the World Cup approaching, it is a healthy sign for the Indian team and KL Rahul brings a lot of stability to the middle order with the batter being flexible in batting in any position.

Watch: Ben Stokes' WC 2019 Moment Recreated As Ball Deflects Off Rohit Sharma's Bat & Goes For 4 In IND vs AUS 3rd ODI

England star Ben Stokes’ 2019 ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup moment was recreated during the third and final ODI of the series between the Rohit Sharma-led India National Cricket Team and Pat Cummins-led Australia National Cricket Team at the Saurashtra Cricket Association Stadium in Rajkot on Wednesday, September 27.

During the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup 2019 final in England, a controversial moment happened that played a crucial role in the scheme of the contest. With three balls left in the match, the fielder’s throw deflected off Ben Stokes’ bat while he dived for a second run and the ball raced away to the boundary for four overthrows.

Meanwhile, a similar kind of incident happened in the third ODI between India and Australia that involved Rohit Sharma. However, unlike Stokes, Rohit’s team weren’t able to win the match.

The incident happened on the third ball of the 18th over, which was bowled by the left-arm pacer Mitchell Starc. Indian captain Rohit casually played a delivery from Starc towards square leg and ran for a single.

The Aussie all-rounder Glenn Maxwell quickly collected the ball and tried to aim it at stumps, which he missed, and the ball hit Rohit’s bat, who was completing a single and deflected for a four, leaving the Aussies disappointed.

Talking about the match, Australia defeated India by 66 runs to avoid the whitewash. India won the series 2-1, having won the first ODI by 5 wickets in Mohali and the second ODI by 99 runs in Indore.

Speaking after the match, Rohit Sharma, who hit a sensational 81 runs off 57 balls, with 5 fours and 6 sixes, said that he is quite happy with his batting form. Rohit Sharma also said that they have played really well in the last 7-8 ODIs but were disappointed to lose the third ODI against Australia. Rohit Sharma said:

“I’m pretty happy, of course, I would like to go all the way along but if I’m hitting like that I’m happy. The last 7-8 ODIs we have played really well, we have been challenged under different conditions and different teams, I thought we responded to that challenge pretty well. Unfortunately not the result we wanted today.”

India National Cricket Team captain Rohit Sharma has said that his side has a clear game plan on how to approach things and they are not at all confused ahead of the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup 2023.

Rohit Sharma’s comments came after the loss in the third ODI of the three-match series against Australia National Cricket Team. After winning the toss, Australia posted a huge total of 352/7 on the board.

Mitchell Marsh (96) and David Warner (56) built a good opening partnership and then Steve Smith (74) and Marnus Labuschagne (72) batted very well to help Australia reach a good total.

Chasing the target, Rohit Sharma played a sensational knock and was involved in two 70-plus run partnerships with Washington Sundar and Virat Kohli, who also hit a brilliant half-century. The middle-order batters KL Rahul and Shreyas Iyer got starts, but they failed to capitalize on it and India got bundled out for just 286 in 49.4 overs to miss out on a series whitewash over the Aussies.

During the post-match presentation ceremony, Rohit Sharma said that he was quite satisfied with his batting performance as well as the overall performance of the team.

I’m pretty happy, more importantly how he feels body-wise – Rohit Sharma on Jasprit Bumrah

Talking about Jasprit Bumrah, Rohit Sharma said that he was happy with Bumrah’s form and fitness. Notably, Bumrah bagged three wickets but he gave away 81 runs in third ODI. Rohit Sharma said:

“[on Bumrah] I’m pretty happy, more importantly how he feels body-wise, he has got so much skill, one bad game can happen to anyone. How he feels mentally and body-wise is key for us and that’s looking good for us.”

Talking about the World Cup 2023, the Indian skipper said that they know where they are headed and there is no confusion in the team. Rohit Sharma said:

“When we talk about the 15 we are very clear what we want. We are not confused, we know where we are headed as a team. It’s a team sport and we want everyone to come and play their part – that’s how we win championships. It’s about looking after the body and try and stay fresh for the next one and half months.”

In a wonderful gesture, India National Cricket Team captain Rohit Sharma invited the star wicketkeeper-batter KL Rahul to collect the trophy after beating Australia National Cricket Team in a three-match home ODI series.

The Indian skipper decided to call Rahul to collect the series-winning trophy to give him all credit for the 2-1 victory as Rahul was the stand-in skipper when the Men In Blue beat Australia by 5 wickets in the first ODI in Mohali and by 99 runs in second ODI in Indore.

Unfortunately, India were unable to register a historic clean sweep over the Aussies as they faced a 66-run defeat in the third ODI in Rajkot where Rohit Sharma was leading the side.

Meanwhile, Rahul after being at the receiving end of an incredible gesture, showcased the same towards other players as he handed the trophy to local Saurashtra players and offered them the center stage.

Notably, India only had 13 players available for the third ODI and among those Ishan Kishan also became unavailable due to his illness as a result, the BCCI called four local state players – Dharmendra Jadeja, Prerak Mankad, Vishwaraj Jadeja, and Harvik Desai – to support the team for drinks and fielding throughout the match.

Talking about the match, Australia won the toss and elected to bat first. They posted a mammoth total of 352/7 on the board. The top four batters of the Australian line-up showcased sheer class and registered brilliant half-centuries. Mitchell Marsh (96) and David Warner (56) built a good opening partnership and then Steve Smith (74) and Marnus Labuschagne (72) batted very well to help Australia reach a good total.

"India Still Heavily Depend On Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli" - Fans On X React As Australia Win 3rd ODI By 66 Runs

Fans on X reacted after Australia thumped India by 66 runs in the dead rubber third ODI of the series to avoid the whitewash. The game took place at the Saurashtra Cricket Association Stadium in Rajkot and it was all about Men in Yellow as they were right on the money with bat and ball.

Australia won the toss and utilized the good batting conditions to a great extent. Openers David Warner (56) and Mitchell Marsh (96) came out all guns blazing as they took the attack to the Indian bowlers and smashed them all over the park for their 78-run opening partnership.

After the wicket of Warner, Steve Smith (74) and Marsh slammed a 137-run partnership to completely take the game away from India in that phase. However, the Men in Blue chipped in with a few quick wickets after that and were back in the game. But Marnus Labuschagne stepped up for his team.

He smashed 72 runs that powered Australia to a gigantic total of 352 runs. For India, Jasprit Bumrah picked up three wickets but went for 81 runs. Whereas Kuldeep Yadav picked two wickets as well. Mohammed Siraj and Prasidh Krishna picked one wicket each.

Chasing the target, captain Rohit Sharma (81) took India off the flyer as he along with Washington Sundar (18) added 74 runs for the opening stand. Virat Kohli (56) then chipped in as well with a magnificent half-century. But Glenn Maxwell saent that trio packing.

Shreyas Iyer (48) and KL Rahul (26) got the starts but they failed to cash on it and lost their wickets at crucial junctures. Australia kept picking wickets at regular intervals that ruled India out of the game. Ravindra Jadeja (35) tried his best but the target was too much in the end.

Glenn Maxwell starred with the ball as he picked up four wickets. All the other bowlers were amongst the wickets as Australia bundled out India for 286 runs to win the game by the margin of 66 runs. They would be heading into the World Cup with some confidence now.

Glenn Maxwell - Shreyas Iyer

The 34-year-old Australia National Cricket Team all-rounder Glenn Maxwell failed to perform with the bat in the dead rubber third ODI against India National Cricket Team as he scored just 5 runs off 7 balls, before being dismissed by Jasprit Bumrah’s stunning yorker.

However, in the second innings, Maxwell brought out his best with the ball. He chipped in with regular wickets to put Australia in a dominant position in the match at the Saurashtra Cricket Association Stadium in Rajkot on Wednesday, September 27.

Maxwell opened his account by breaking the 74-run opening partnership between Rohit Sharma and Washington Sundar by dismissing the latter. He then dismissed Rohit Sharma to break his 70-run stand with Virat Kohli and just after a few overs he also cleaned up Virat Kohli.

Glenn Maxwell Bags 4th Wicket After Dismissing Shreyas Iyer

Glenn Maxwell wasn’t done after picking up a three-wicket haul as he then bagged his fourth wicket in the 39th over. On the second ball of the 39th over, Shreyas Iyer smoked him for a brilliant six over wide long-on.

The Aussie star was quick to take his revenge as he cleaned up Iyer on the very next ball. The off-spinner bowled a good length ball on off-stump and the batter played for the turn. The ball went past his outside edge and crashed into the off-stump. Maxwell was pumped up after taking the wicket and he roared in celebration.

Earlier, Australia won the toss and posted a mammoth total of 352/7 on the board.

India (Playing XI): Rohit Sharma(c), Virat Kohli, Shreyas Iyer, KL Rahul(w), Suryakumar Yadav, Ravindra Jadeja, Washington Sundar, Kuldeep Yadav, Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammed Siraj, Prasidh Krishna

Glenn Maxwell - Rohit Sharma

The 34-year-old Australia National Cricket Team all-rounder Glenn Maxwell was left absolutely shocked after he grabbed a blinder to dismiss India National Cricket Team captain Rohit Sharma in the dead rubber third ODI at the Saurashtra Cricket Association Stadium in Rajkot on Wednesday, September 27.

Rohit played a terrific knock for India in the third ODI during the run-chase. He came out all guns blazing and smashed the Aussies bowlers all over the park. The Indian captain showcased sheer class and played some of the most beautiful-looking strokes.

He was involved in an outstanding 74-run opening partnership with Washington Sundar, who was promoted to open the innings in the absence of Shubman Gill and Ishan Kishan in the team.

After the dismissal of the young all-rounder, Rohit was joined by the modern-day batting great Virat Kohli in the middle, and the star Indian duo had a 70-run stand before Glenn Maxwell bagged his second wicket of the match.

On the last ball of the 21st over, Maxwell bowled a quicker delivery on the stumps and Rohit backed away to smash it straight. Maxwell had some eye on the ball and was looking to move out of the way. The all-rounder, however, just put his right hand up and clutched the ball in his palms.

Maxwell was himself left stunned after taking the catch and Rohit Sharma, on the other hand, looked extremely dejected as he missed out on a ton. He scored outstanding 81 runs off 51 balls, before walking back to the hut.

Rohit Sharma’s 6 hitting ability is the best – Irfan Pathan

Rohit Sharma also hit 5 brilliant fours and 6 excellent sixes during his knock. He created a new world record for most sixes in a country as he has hit over 257 sixes in India. He went past Martin Guptill’s tally of 256 sixes in New Zealand.

Looking at Rohit’s batting brilliance, Irfan Pathan took to his official X handle, to state that the Indian captain’s six-hitting ability is the best India have ever had among top-order batters.

“Rohit Sharma’s 6 hitting ability is the best we ever had as far as top order batter is concern. Easy as you like,” former India National Cricket Team all-rounder Irfan Pathan wrote on X.

Rohit Sharma Tops List Of Batters With Most International Sixes In A Country, Full List Included

Indian captain Rohit Sharma is on the march as India are chasing 353 in the third ODI against Australia in Rajkot. India have already won the series winning the first two games and are now eyeing to clean-sweep the Aussies.

Rohit after being rested from the first two ODIs has returned into the playing XI to lead the side. Along with him, Virat Kohli, Mohd Siraj and Kuldeep Yadav are also back in the XI. The pacer picked one wicket on his return and Kuldeep picked two.

Meanwhile, Rohit is playing with a particularly attacking approach as India are eyeing to hunt down 353. He played some exquisite shots to start off his innings. He pulled Pat Cummins over square leg and hit Mitchell Starc over covers to get the first two sixes in his innings.

He also got to his fourth ODI fifty in his last five innings as he brought up a stylish fifty. Rohit is India’s leading run-getter against Australia with over 2000 runs and is playing another crucial knock for his team.

During his innings, he became the batter to hit most sixes at home in international ODI cricket. Rohit leads the tally with 257 sixes at home followed by Kiwis Martin Guptill and Brendon McCullum with 256 and 230 respectively. Chris Gayle sits fourth on the list with 228 sixes at home followed by MS Dhoni fifth on the list with 186 sixes at home.

Washington Sundar

The last game of the series between India and Australia is currently taking place at the Saurashtra Cricket Association Stadium in Rajkot. The hosts surprised many in their chase as they sent Washington Sundar to open the innings alongside captain Rohit Sharma.

Australia posted a mammoth total of 352 runs on the board and it was expected that Virat Kohli would partner Rohit Sharma at the top. However, team management allowed Washington Sundar to take center stage. The move worked to some extent as he played some good strokes at the top.

However, one six that Washington Sundar hit recalled the memories of Indian fans. The all-rounder recreated that hook shot that he hit during India’s famous Test win in Gabba two years back. The southpaw smashed Australia captain Pat Cummins for the gigantic six.

Pat Cummins bowled a short delivery in the middle. It seemed that Washington Sundar was late on the shot. However, he quickly pulled out a hook shot that went miles ahead.

Washington Sundar timed the ball perfectly throughout his short innings on the crease. He unfortunately got for just 17 runs as he perished to Glenn Maxwell in the 11th over the game. The all-rounder tried to play the inside-out shot and got caught in the covers.

Washington Sundar added 74 runs partnership with captain Rohit Sharma, who has looked in a completely different mood. The Indian captain came out all guns blazing as he smashed his half-century in just 31 balls.

Washington Sundar bowls an economical spell with the ball

Washington Sundar was included in the team for the last ODI against Australia. He replaced Ravichandran Ashwin in the team. While all the other Indian bowlers went for runs, the all-rounder was quite economical. Although he didn’t pick the wicket but was sensational. He conceded 48 runs in 10 overs.

Australia won the toss and elected to bat first. They had a staggering start with the bat as David Warner (56) and Mitchell Marsh (96) were off the flyer as they added 78 runs for the opening partnership. After that, Steve Smith chipped in too.

The batter scored 74 runs before Marnus Labuschagne stepped up too. He smashed 72 runs that powered Australia to a gigantic total of 352 runs. For India, Jasprit Bumrah picked up three wickets but went for 81 runs. Whereas Kuldeep Yadav picked two wickets as well.

Veteran commentator Harsha Bhogle and former India head coach Ravi Shastri criticized the pitch at Saurashtra Cricket Association Stadium in Rajkot. Bhogle wasn’t impressed with the flatness of the surface and highlighted that boundary dimensions should be bigger on belter like these.

India and Australia are facing off with each other in the final game of the series at Rajkot. After the first innings of the game, the pitch came under scrutiny as it favored batters in all ends. The surface for the dead rubber has been belter with nothing in for bowlers.

The first innings saw bowlers, both spinners as well as pacers, getting taken to cleaners by the batters. The ball seemed to coming in the bat nicely and even with the soft ball, it didn’t seem that things were slowing up, which depicts the kind of surface it has been.

Harsha Bhogle touted Rajkot’s pitch as a ‘road’ and suggested that BCCI should push the boundary ropes back as this ground has space. Taking to his X account, he explained:

“If we are going to make roads for pitches, at least we should push the boundary ropes back; certainly at grounds like this one that have the space.”

Ravi Shastri Calls Rajkot Pitch “One Of The Best Highways In India”

Apart from Harsha Bhogle, former Indian head coach Ravi Shastri too didn’t go easy on Rajkot pitch. The commentator called the surface ‘one of the best highways’ in India. He made the comments on air during the 3rd India vs Australia game.

Coming to the match, Australia won the toss and elected to bat first. They had a staggering start with the bat as David Warner (56) and Mitchell Marsh (96) were off to the flyer as they added 78 runs for the opening partnership. After that, Steve Smith chipped in too.

Australian opener Mitchell Marsh scored 96 off 84 balls as he gave his team a brilliant start in the third ODI in Rajkot. He added a 78-run opening stand inside 9 overs with David Warner. This was after he was rested in the second ODI.

He slowed down after the first powerplay just for a while but picked up the scoring rate as he blazed away to 96. The all-rounder hit some strong shots as he hit 13 fours and three sixes during his knock.

He said that he was looking to give his team a good start inside the powerplay. Speaking to the broadcasters during the mid-innings break, Marsh opened up on his knock.

” Threw another one away didn’t I? Probably the hottest conditions I’ve faced, wicket was good but I was cooked by the end as you could see. Wicket was really good, we assessed the conditions very early and wanted to get as many as we could in the powerplay to set up a platform,” said Marsh.

Would Have Been Nice To Get Another Four Runs: Mitchell Marsh

He further said that he was disappointed to miss out on the century by just four runs but was happy with the final score that the team put up.

“Personally would’ve been nice to get another 4 runs but happy with our job. We’re going to change the pace, saw that it worked towards the back end there. Was nice, hopefully we can come out and do well, kickstart our India tour. As you saw the wicket slowed up a bit as the ball got older. Hopefully it does the same for us and 352 will be a few too many” said Marsh.

Australia after their 50 overs finished with 352/7 with contributions from David Warner (56), Steve Smith (74), and Marnus Labuschagne (72) apart from Marsh. India now need 353 to win and clean-sweep the Aussies heading into the World Cup.

Watch: Virat Kohli's Funny Celebration After Taking A Brilliant Catch to Dismiss Alex Carey In Rajkot ODI

Former Indian skipper Virat Kohli is in a joyful mood in the third ODI against Australia in Rajkot. He was rested for the first two games and is back for the third ODI.

Kohli, who had a good outing in the Asia Cup, was one of the senior players to rest for the first two games. Rohit Sharma, Kuldeep Yadav, Mohammed Siraj, and Hardik Pandya also rested for the first two games. Pandya eventually did not play the final ODI as well.

In the sapping heat of Rajkot, Kohli seemed tireless as he covered the grounds on the field. In the 37th over of the Australian innings, he took a simple catch to dismiss Australian wicketkeeper Alex Carey. Carey was the first of Jasprit Bumrah’s wickets on the day. He was dismissed in the 37th over of the Australian innings. He then dismissed Glenn Maxwell with a searing yorker in the 39th over. He came back to dismiss Marnus Labuschagne (72 off 58) in the final over off his spell.

Shreyas Iyer

Former India cricketer Robin Uthappa believes that middle-order batter Shreyas Iyer could be a potential future leader for the Indian team. Robin Uthappa emphasized that Shreyas Iyer made a solid comeback from an injury and scored a century against Australia.

Shreyas Iyer returned to the national team during the recently concluded Asia Cup 2023 after a prolonged injury layoff. He played two matches and missed the Super Four matches due to back spasms. He was included in the squad for the ODI series against Australia.

Shreyas Iyer Is A Solid Player – Robin Uthappa

In a video shared on his YouTube channel, Robin Uthappa highlighted Shreyas Iyer‘s outstanding performance and controlled batting style against Australia, especially considering his recent injury setback.

“Shreyas Iyer, what a relief! It’s been a long time coming. We’ve always known that he is a high-class player. In my books, he is someone who can go on to lead India as well in the future. Shreyas is a solid player and he showed us why in that hundred against Australia.”

“Just the pace at which he batted, the control, and the connection. To have a couple of low scores and then have a freak kind of spasm that keeps him out of action for some time. To come back like that, especially after the injury, is not easy and takes a lot of character.”

The right-handed batter scored three runs in the series opener in Mohali. However, the middle-order batter smashed a brilliant century in the second ODI, scoring 105 off 90 balls in Indore.

Shubman Gill Is The Next Big Thing In Indian Cricket – Robin Uthappa

Robin Uthappa hoped that Shubman Gill would continue his exceptional form into the ICC World Cup 2023. He described Shubman Gill as the next big star in Indian cricket after Virat Kohli.

“If you have to look at a few things leading into the World Cup, one would be Shubman Gill’s form. He is in such wonderful form that you want to protect that a little bit. You want to make sure that you save all those runs for an important tournament like the World Cup. All signs lead to Shubman Gill being the next big thing in Indian cricket.”

“It certainly seems like he is going to take over from Virat Kohli as the next big Indian batting star. Here’s hoping that he continues his good form, goes into the World Cup feeling exceptionally good, and scores lots and lots of runs for India. Hopefully, he sets high standards for himself and could very well be the Man of the Series.”

Shubman Gill has been in the form of his life, scoring 1,230 runs in 20 ODIs at an impressive average of 72.35 in 2023. The 24-year-old has notched up five centuries and the same number of half-centuries in the 50-over format this year.

Jasprit Bumrah - Glenn Maxwell

The dead rubber third ODI between India and Australia is currently taking place at the Saurashtra Cricket Association Stadium, Rajkot. After the rollicking start by the visitors with the bat, the hosts have pulled things back with Jasprit Bumrah being the key architect.

Jasprit Bumrah was quite expensive in the innings early on as Mitchell Marsh took him to the cleaners. However, the pacer made a great comeback after that as he bowled a magnificent spell of fast bowling that saw him picking two quick wickets.

Jasprit Bumrah first removed Alex Carey with the staggering slower ball and then sent Glenn Maxwell packing. The pacer bamboozled him with a staggering ball and the Australian all-rounder had no answers to that delivery.

Jasprit Bumrah set the batter perfectly as he bowled a series of slower balls and then fired in one quick delivery. He bowled a staggering 142.3 kph yorker that went under the bat of Glenn Maxwell to castle the base of off-stump back.

Here’s the video:

Glenn Maxwell, who played his first game in 6 months, didnt have a good outing in his comeback game. He scored just 5 runs off 7 balls. He now would be hoping to turn things around with his bowling. He’s likely to roll his arm over in the match.

Kuldeep Yadav supports Jasprit Bumrah well as he picks two wickets as well

Kuldeep Yadav, who was rested for the first two games, made a great impact in the final match of the series. He lived up to the expectation of ‘wicket taker’ as he bagged two key scalps for his team in the middle overs.

Kuldeep Yadav first sent dangerous Micthell Marsh packing for 96 runs. If this was not enough he then picked Cameron Green as well. The all-rounder scores just 9 runs off 3 balls. He bowled just 6 overs in the game and conceded 48 runs.

Here’s the playing 11 of India

Rohit Sharma (c), Virat Kohli, Shreyas Iyer, KL Rahul (wk), Suryakumar Yadav, Ravindra Jadeja, Washington Sundar, Kuldeep Yadav, Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammed Siraj, Prasidh Krishna

Virat Kohli, Steve Smith

India and Australia are currently squaring off with each other in the dead rubber third ODI in Rajkot. The heat in the city has taken its toll on the players but despite that Virat Kohli has managed to hog the headlines with his antics in the middle of the innings.

Australian batter Steve Smith was struggling to get going in the heat of Rajkot. In the middle of the innings, he took a drink break and had wet towels all around him. Even a chair was brought out for him and he underwent some treatment.

Marnus Labuschagne was standing on the side and it was at that moment when Virat Kohli seized in the opportunity to tease him. The Indian batter came close to him and danced hilariously in front of him. After that, he poked him as well before the two engaged in a conversation.

Here’s the video of the incident:

After that break, Steve Smith didn’t last too long on the pitch. His stay at the crease was cut short by Mohammed Siraj. The pacer trapped him in lbw for 74 runs. The game currently hangs evenly poised with both teams leaving no stone unturned in being at the top. Australia are keeping the scoring intact whereas Indian bowlers are chipping in with regular wickets.

Virat Kohli likely to open the innings in the third IND vs AUS ODI

Virat Kohli is likely to open the innings in the ongoing third ODI against Australia in Rajkot. Shubman Gill has been released from the squad whereas Ishan Kishan isn’t picked in the dead rubber third game due to his illness. This makes way for the dream duo of Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli to open.

Virat Kohli doesn’t have a great record as an opener in ODIs. He has played seven games as an opener and in that he has scored just 166 runs at an average of below 24. If he partners Rohit Sharma in the last game, he would be hoping to better that record.

Australian batter Steve Smith achieved a massive feat in the ODIs. The batter became the fourth fastest player from his country to score 5,000 runs in the 50-over format. He joined the likes of greats; David Warner, Aaron Finch and Dean Jones.

Steve Smith achieved the feat in the ongoing dead rubber third ODI against India in Rajkot. The batter has looked a class apart in the last game of the series and has timed the ball to perfection, putting his team in the dominating position.

Steve Smith looked fluent from the time he came out to bat. The batter arrived at the crease after David Warner was back in the hut following a brisk fifty. He cashed on the starts given by the openers and played some breathtaking strokes that put Indian bowlers under pressure.

Steve Smith scored runs all over the park and made sure that he kept the run rate high. After failing in the first two games, he made sure that he set the stage on fire in the last game and entered the ICC World Cup 2023 on a high note.

Steve Smith smashed a stupendous half-century that put Australia in the driver’s seat. With the way he was batting, it looked like he wouldn’t get anything less than a hundred. But a lapse in concentration saw Mohammed Siraj cut short his stay at the crease.

Steve Smith scored 76 runs off 61 balls. He hit 8 fours and 1 six in his innings. During his innings, he also surpassed 5000 runs in ODIs and became the fourth fastest from his country. The batter achieved the feat in 129 innings and at a rollicking average of 44.37.

Fastest to 5000 ODI runs for Australia; Steve Smith joins an elite list

David Warner is the fastest Australian batter to achieve 5000 runs in ODIs. He completed the milestone in 115 games and is followed by Aaron Finch, who took 126 innings. Late Dean Jones is also on the list and is followed by Steve Smith.

Fastest to 5000 ODI runs for Australia

Former Indian cricketer Saba Karim talked about Ruturaj Gaikwad being seen as a future captaincy prospect. He said that BCCI picking him as a skipper for the Asian Games indicates that he’s considered a three-format player by the team management for the future.

Saba Karim in interaction with the Times of India said that Ruturaj Gaikwad has shown leadership qualities in the domestic circuit. He also added that the young batter is the only player in the Asian Games squad team, who captains his state team.

Saba Karim also believes that the upcoming Asian Games will be an opportunity for Ruturaj Gaikwad to showcase his leadership skills. He remarked that selectors also will have a keen eye. The former Indian selector elaborated:

The moment you pick a youngster like Ruturaj Gaikwad as captain it means that the selectors, maybe not now, but two or three years down the line are looking at him like that. Right now, Ruturaj Gaikwad is singled out as a player who can play all three formats. He has done that as well for his state Maharashtra. He has shown some very good leadership qualities while leading Maharashtra in the domestic matches that were held last season.

That is why selectors have chosen him to lead the side because the rest of the players are all youngsters and I don’t think all of them have led their state side. So, this is a perfect opportunity for Ruturaj as well as the selectors to have a closer look at him in terms of leadership qualities.”

Ruturaj Gaikwad has been one of the best youngsters in India. He has been part of the senior Indian team for a while now and his experience surely would be handy for the team in the big tournament, which will take place in T20 format. He has scored truckloads of runs in the domestic circuit as well as the IPL.

Both Shivam Dube and Tilak Varma have a different dimension – Saba Karim on potential replacement for Yuvraj Singh and Suresh Raina

Saba Karim was further asked if Shivam Dube and Tilak Varma could bring in the option that Yuvraj Singh and Suresh Raina used to do with both bat and ball. Replying to this, he pointed out the difference between the two all-rounders.

Saba Karim believes that selectors are now bringing in batters who can chip in with the ball as well. He said that although both Tilak and Shivam and different, they have defined roles. He added:

“Tilak Varma and Shivam Dube have a different dimension altogether. Tilak comes in at 3 or 4 and can bowl handy off-spin which he has done in the recent past. But more than Tilak and Shivam, I look at Rinku Singh. I look at Rinku Singh as a middle-order batsman. Although he doesn’t roll his arm over. Shivam comes in at 6 or 7.

“So, I think selectors have created a profile for both these players – Tilak Varma and Shivam Dube. Tilak is a top-order batsman who can bowl right-arm off-spin.

“Shivam is a left-handed power-hitting batsman who comes in at 5, 6, or maybe 7 and who can bowl right arm medium pace. Their roles are pretty well defined. There is a huge difference between these two profiles,” he concluded.

Former Indian cricketer Robin Uthappa feels that one of Ishan Kishan and Shreyas Iyer can feature in the playing XI during the ICC World Cup 2023. Robin Uthappa emphasized that other batters sealed their berths in the batting line-up for the marquee tournament.

Skipper Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill will open the innings in the World Cup, followed by Virat Kohli at the No. 3 position. KL Rahul is expected to keep wickets and bat in the middle order at No. 5. The team management has to finalize the batter for the remaining spot.

The Positions Of The Remaining Batters Seem Set – Robin Uthappa

Robin Uthappa stated that there would be competition between Ishan Kishan and Shreyas Iyer, with the batter scoring more runs in the third ODI and earning a spot in the World Cup.

“There will be competition between Ishan Kishan and Shreyas Iyer. The batter who will score more runs in the third ODI will start in the World Cup. The positions of the remaining batters seem set,” Robin Uthappa said.

Shreyas Iyer sealed his place at No. 4 with his brilliant performances before being sidelined by injury. The right-handed batter returned to the team during the Asia Cup 2023. He scored a blistering century in the second ODI against Australia to cement his place in the lineup.

Rohit Sharma Is Playing Exceptionally Well – Robin Uthappa

Robin Uthappa praised Rohit Sharma’s ODI approach, highlighting how he adapts to the game’s demands. He also expressed hope for a strong performance from Virat Kohli’s bat before the World Cup.

“I love the fact that Rohit Sharma is playing according to his tried-and-tested ODI template. He is taking some time initially and then plays positively according to the situation. He is playing exceptionally well.”

“The master is doing what he does well. It’s good to see that he (Virat Kohli) has gotten a break. He is fresh and is coming to play the last ODI against Australia and will then go straight into the World Cup, and we can hope very good things from him moving forward.”

Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli returned to the team after being rested for the first two matches of the series. Ishan Kishan hasn’t been included in the playing XI for the final ODI in Rajkot on Wednesday, September 27, due to illness.

India skipper Rohit Sharma will have a new opening partner for the ongoing third and final ODI against Australia in Rajkot. The reason is that his regular partner Shubman Gill has been rested for the game.

Rohit Sharma was not a part of the team for the first two ODIs as he along with Virat Kohli, Kuldeep Yadav, and Hardik Pandya was rested. In his absence, Gill and Ruturaj Gaikwad had opened the innings in the first two ODIs.

Gaikwad has been released from the squad for the Asian Games where the right-handed batsman will lead the Indian team. Ishan Kishan was another opening option in the squad but he has been ruled out of the game too due to a viral fever.

Who will open the innings with Rohit Sharma:

With Gill, Gaikwad, and Kishan out of the third ODI, Rohit Sharma is set to have a new opening partner. And according to India’s team sheet, Virat Kohli is likely to partner Rohit Sharma at the top of the order. Shreyas Iyer had batted at number three in the previous games in the absence of Virat Kohli and he is likely to bat in the same position.

While Virat Kohli has batted at number three for the most part of his ODI career, he is not new to opening the innings in the 50-over format. He has opened the innings 7 times in ODIs so far and has scored 166 runs at a modest average of 24. The former India skipper would be looking to improve his stats as an opener in ODIs in the ongoing game.

Meanwhile, India will be looking to extend their winning run. The Men in Blue have already sealed the series by winning the first two games and are on the verge of whitewashing Australia in an ODI series for the very first time.

Talking about the ongoing game, Australia were on 7 for no loss after 2 overs at the time of compiling this report.

Veteran Indian off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin was not included in the Rohit Sharma-led team’s playing XI for the third ODI against Australia. Ravichandran Ashwin has been rested to accommodate Washington Sundar in the lineup for the last game in the series.

Ravichandran Ashwin was recalled to the team for the three-match ODI series after Axar Patel was ruled out of the series due to injury. The right-arm spinner made an impact with the ball in the first two ODI matches, despite not playing ODI cricket for a long time.

The 36-year-old was economical in the series opener in Mohali, picking up one wicket for 47 runs in his 10-over quota. He troubled Australia’s batters with his bowling variations in the second ODI in Indore, bagging three wickets for 41 runs in the high-scoring encounter.

Ravichandran Ashwin Is Missing – Rohit Sharma

The Men in Blue made a few changes to their starting XI for the final encounter before the World Cup. Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, Kuldeep Yadav, and Jasprit Bumrah returned to the team for the final ODI of the series. Mohammed Shami and Ravichandran Ashwin were rested.

During the toss, Indian skipper Rohit Sharma confirmed the absence of Ravichandran Ashwin for the last match in the series. He mentioned that Washinton Sundar has been included as a spin bowling all-rounder in the line-up.

“Myself, Virat, and Kuldeep are all back. From the last game, Ashwin is also missing, Washington is in. Ishan is not well, he’s got viral fever so he misses out,” Rohit said.

Team India have made a number of changes to their playing eleven for the third and final ODI against Australia in Rajkot. A few changes were very much on the cards due to the return of captain Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, Hardik Pandya, and Kuldeep Yadav.

All four players were rested for the first two ODIs of the series after the triumphant campaign in Asia Cup 2023. And after the conclusion of the second ODI, Shubman Gill and Shardul Thakur were also rested while Jasprit Bumrah also joined the team for the third ODI after missing the previous match due to personal reasons.

Team India were also compelled to make a forced change in the playing eleven as Ishan Kishan was unavailable for the match. Speaking at the toss, captain Rohit Sharma revealed that the wicketkeeper-batsman had missed out due to a viral fever. Ishan Kishan played in the previous two ODIs, registering scores of 18 and 31.

Rohit Sharma reveals the reason behind Ishan Kishan’s absence:

Speaking at the toss, Rohit Sharma confirmed that he, Virat Kohli, and Kuldeep Yadav will play the match while Ishan Kishan has missed out due to a viral fever.

“Conditions are much better here, looks like there’s good weather. Decent temperature as well, we’re just looking forward to this game. The breaks are more important from a mental perspective than a physical one. Very happy with how we played, almost everything we wanted to do we got it done. Gives us a chance for us to see what we want to do.

“Looks a bit dry, it’s going to play slightly better under lights, we wanted to chase anyway. Let’s see if we can make use of the two new balls. Myself, Virat, and Kuldeep are all back. From the last game, Ashwin is also missing, Washington is in. Ishan is not well, he’s got viral fever so he misses out,” said Rohit Sharma.

Meanwhile, India have already sealed the three-match series by winning the first two ODIs and will be eyeing a historic whitewash. India have never whitewashed Australia in an ODI series and will fancy their chances.

Australia Playing 11 vs England – ICC World Cup 2023, Match 36

Australia Playing 11 vs India – 3rd ODI, 2023. Australia takes on India in the third and final ODI in Rajkot on September 27, Wednesday. The match starts from 1.30 pm IST with India having won the first two ODIs. The Men in Blue are now looking for a clean sweep while Australia is a consolation win.

Nothing has gone right for Australia since the ODI series against South Africa. They have now lost five ODIs on the trot including the last two IND vs AUS ODIs. India have won big in the first two ODIs first by five wickets and then by 99 runs in the second ODI.

While the Indian team have been peaking at the right time, Australia are struggling with injury concerns and also struggling to find the right combinations. The ill-timed injury to key players is something that the management needs to address quickly.

For Australia, skipper Pat Cummins will return to lead the side. Mitchell Starc should also be back as should be Mitchell Starc. Marcus Stoinis who was rested for the second ODI should be back in the third. There are injury concerns over Glenn Maxwell who is recovering from an ankle injury. Though he is expected to be back in the XI, it will be interesting to see how he goes in the game. Ashton Agar who is part of Australia’s World Cup squad is ant available for this series.

Fast bowlers Spencer Johnson and Nathan Ellis have been ruled out of the upcoming third ODI between India and Australia. Johnson is down with a hamstring injury while Ellis is troubled with a groin injury for which the bowlers will not play the second ODI.

Johnson made his debut in the second ODI going for 61 runs in 8 overs while remaining wicketless. There are also reports of Travis Head being unavailable for the first half of the World Cup with a fractured left hand. In this article, we predict Australia’s likely playing XI for the third ODI against India in Rajkot.

The IND vs AUS 3rd ODI will be played in Rajkot on Wednesday, September 27. India have already won the series and are looking for a clean sweep. Aussies meanwhile will look to avoid one.

Heading into the third ODI, both teams will look to play their best cricket and look to resolve any chink in the armor. India have so far dominated Australia in the series winning the first ODI by five wickets and the second by 99 runs. The third ODI has a slight rain threat with the weather around in Rajkot.

For the third ODI, the Indian team will have their big match players return. Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli will return back into the squad along with Mohammed Siraj and Kuldeep Yadav. Reports in ESPN Cricinfo say that as many as five Indian players namely Shubman Gill, Shardul Thakur, Hardik Pandya, Mohammed Shami, and Axar Patel have not traveled with the Indian team to Rajkot.

In India, out of 67 matches, the Aussies have won 32 games while Team India 30. Five matches ended with no result. India and Australia played an ODI in Rajkot back in 2020 with India winning the game by 36 runs.

IND vs AUS Match Preview– 3rd ODI, 2023

India

For India, seven players will not be a part of the third ODI namely Shubman Gill, Shardul Thakur, Ruturaj Gaikwad, Tilak Varma, Prasidh Krishna, Mukesh Kumar, and Axar Patel. While Gill and Thakur have been rested, Axar has not yet recovered from his quadricep injury and is rehabilitating at the NCA. The rest of the players were in the squad for the first two games.

Siraj will return to the squad in place of Shami as the management is looking to rotate the bowlers and keep them fresh for the World Cup. Jasprit Bumrah who missed the second ODI due to personal reasons will also return to the side for the third IND vs AUS ODI.

With Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, KL Rahul, Kuldeep Yadav, R Ashwin, Ravindra Jadeja, Mohammed Siraj, and Jasprit Bumrah, India have a good chance to clean sweep the Aussies after they lost 2-1 in an ODI series earlier this year.

India Squad For Third ODI: Rohit Sharma(c), Ishan Kishan(w), Virat Kohli, Shreyas Iyer, KL Rahul, Suryakumar Yadav, Hardik Pandya, Ravindra Jadeja, Ravichandran Ashwin, Mohammed Shami, Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammed Siraj, Washington Sundar, Kuldeep Yadav

Australia

For Australia, skipper Pat Cummins will return to lead the side. Mitchell Starc should also be back as should be Mitchell Marsh. Australia should also look to play Ashton Agar alongside Adam Zampa as the second specialist spinner in the side. Marcus Stoinis who was rested for the second ODI should be back in the third.

There are injury concerns over Glenn Maxwell who is recovering from an ankle injury. Meanwhile, Travis Head has been ruled out of the first half of the World Cup due to a hand fracture as per reports. The rest of the players are reportedly fit ahead of the big event.

Steve Smith and David Warner, Australia’s biggest hope with the bat have not scored as many runs as they would have liked to in this series. Smith unfortunately was out for a first-ball duck in the last game. Both the batters need to spend some time at the crease and have some runs under their belt heading into the World Cup. How Starc performs on his return is what the management will look forward to as well.

A return for Glenn Maxwell is on the cards as per reports. He was suffering from an ankle injury from which he has reportedly recovered

India Playing 11 vs Australia – 3rd ODI, 2023. India take on Australia in the third ODI in Rajkot to round off the IND vs AUS ODI series on Wednesday, September 27. The match starts at 1.30 pm IST with India eyeing to clean sweep the Aussies. They have already won the series by winning the first two ODIs.

Heading into the third ODI, the Indian team will have their big match players return.

While Gill and Thakur have been rested, Axar has not yet recovered from his quadricep injury and is rehabilitating at the NCA. The rest of the players were in the squad for the first two games.

As a part of the rotational policy Shami will make way for Siraj and Jasprit Bumrah will make a comeback after missing the second ODI due to personal reasons. Axa’s prolonged injury means R Ashwin will most probably get another game and bowl in tandem alongside Ravindra Jadeja.

Australia have now lost five ODIs on the trot. They lost three consecutive games against South Africa and now two against India ahead of their World Cup opener against India in Chennai on October 6. Australia defeated India 2-1 earlier this year in an ODI series. With the senior players back India now have a chance to avenge the previous series defeat.

The match starts from 1.30 pm IST with this being the last ODI for the two teams ahead of the World Cup. India have won the series by winning the first two ODIs.

Australia, on the other hand, have lost their last five ODIs on the trot. They lost three against South Africa and now two against India. The two teams meet again on October 8 in Chennai as they kick off their World Cup campaign.

India posted 399/6 batting first with centuries from Shubman Gill and Shreyas Iyer. However, it was Suryakumar Yadav’s 72 * off 37 balls that took them to that score. Australia, on the other hand, were bowled out for 217 chasing 317 in 33 on the DLS method due to rain.

India will be resting as many as seven players for the final ODI. While the likes of Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, Kuldeep Yadav, and Mohd Siraj will return to the XI, Shubman Gill, Shardul Thakur, Prasidh Krishna, Tilak Varma, Mukesh Kumar, Axar Patel and Ruturaj Gaikwad will miss the third ODI. Gaikwad was picked only for the first two games, while Gill and Shardul are rested ahead of the World Cup.

There are injury concerns with Axar Patel who has not recovered from his left quadriceps strain as per Cricbuzz. He is currently rehabilitating at the NCA. Axar was not picked for the first two games. Axar prolonged injury means that Ravichandran Ashwin will get more game time in the third ODI after he picked up three wickets in the second ODI.

Australia, too fielded a weak bowling attack in the first ODI with Pat Cummins and Mitchell Starc rested. Starc spoke to the media saying that he is feeling a lot better and the groin injury has recovered with time. He will be playing the third ODI against India followed by the two warm-up games to get into his groove. Cummins and Hazlewood should play the third ODI as well as injury concerns still linger over Glenn Maxwell. If not Maxwell, the other regular players should be back in the IND vs AUS 3rd ODI.

IND vs AUS Today Match Prediction- 3rd ODI, Who Will Win Today’s ODI Match? 2023. The IND vs AUS 3rd ODI will be played in Rajkot on September 26. The match starts at 1.30 pm IST and is the final ODI of the series before the two teams meet in the World Cup. India have won the series and will be looking for a clean sweep. Australia will be looking for a consolation win and not conceding another series loss.

Heading into the third ODI, there will be a lot of changes to the squads of the two teams. Both teams should look to field their best XI, keeping their best combinations in mind for the World Cup. There are injury concerns in both camps and it will be interesting to see how they cover it up.

Australia benched both Pat Cummins and Mitchell Starc in the second ODI. Starc has reportedly recovered from his groin injury after spending a lot of time on recovery. Cummins missing the second ODI was more of him being rested.

The trio of Cummins, Starc, and Josh Hazlewood should lead the pace attack for Australia in the third ODI and the World Cup. Mitchell Marsh too was rested and should be back for the third ODI as should be Marcus Stoinis.

There are injury concerns on Glenn Maxwell who missed the first two games due to ankle injury. It will be interesting to see if he makes it to the XI in the final ODI as he is a part of their World Cup plans. Meanwhile, Travis Head has been ruled out of the first half of the World Cup due to a hand fracture as per reports.

For India, the likes of Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, Kuldeep Yadav, Mohd Siraj, and Jasprit Bumrah will return to the playing XI for the final ODI. Seven players namely Shubman Gill, Shardul Thakur, Tilak Varma, Prasidh Krishna, Mukesh Kumar Ruturaj Gaikwad, and Axar Patel will not be a part of the third ODI.

While Gill and Thakur have been rested, Axar has not yet recovered from his injury. The others were a part of the squad for the first two ODIs. Axar’s absence means that R Ashwin will get another game after he bowled an impressive spell of 3/41 in the second ODI.
