Former Indian cricketer Aakash Chopra mocked Pakistani fans who expressed confidence in India’s defeat in the final match of the ICC World Cup 2023. Aakash Chopra humorously noted that Pakistani fans have been hoping for India’s loss since the morning of October 14.

India secured a convincing victory against Pakistan in the league match at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on October 14. The Men in Green were restricted to a total of 191 runs. The Men in Blue successfully chased down that target with over 19 overs to spare.

They Have Been Hopeful Of India’s Defeat – Aakash Chopra

Aakash Chopra took to his X (formerly known as Twitter) to state that Pakistani fans are more confident than Australian supporters in the Pat Cummins-led team’s victory.

“Itna confidence toh Australian public ko Australia ke jeetne ka nahin hai…jitna hamare padosiyon ko hai. Khair…unhe toh Bharat ki haar ki ummeed 14th October ki subah se hai. (Even the Australian public isn’t as confident about Australia winning as our neighbors are. Well…they have been hopeful of India’s defeat since the morning of October 14th),” Chopra wrote.

India and Pakistan experienced contrasted outcomes in their campaigns at the World Cup. India reached the final with an impressive streak of 10 consecutive wins. Pakistan struggled to qualify for the semi-finals, finishing fifth in the table with four victories from nine games.

Good Guys Don’t Always Finish Last – Aakash Chopra

In a video shared on his YouTube channel, Aakash Chopra lauded Rohit Sharma for his consistent and impactful performance. He highlighted that Rohit led the team by example, setting the tone as the captain.

“Something beautiful has happened if we talk about this World Cup. Everyone has suddenly started realizing how important Rohit Sharma is. If someone scores 40-odd runs, it is not celebrated that much. However, he has scored more than 500 runs and the way he has scored them.”

“Everyone is saying that the captain is walking the talk, showing the way, and setting the tone. Good guys don’t always finish last; that’s Rohit Sharma. You will expect the same from him once again,” he added.

The Rohit Sharma-led team are taking on the Pat Cummins-led side at the World’s Largest Cricket Stadium in Ahmedabad on Sunday, November 19.
