A brilliant moment of camaraderie between Virat Kohli and Glenn Maxwell was witnessed on the field during the ongoing final of the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup 2023. India and Australia are currently up against each other in the title decider at the Narendra Modi Stadium, Ahmedabad.
The match did not really start on a good note for Team India as they lost the toss. Australia captain Pat Cummins won the toss and opted to bowl first. Australia’s bowlers totally justified the decision by taking three wickets before India could reach 100.
Mitchell Starc dismissed Shubman Gill for just 4 runs to give Australia the early breakthrough. It was followed by a 46-run stand between Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli before Australia struck back with two wickets. Glenn Maxwell broke the stand between Kohli and Rohit by dismissing the latter before Pat Cummins dismissed Shreyas Iyer to reduce India to 81 for 3 from 76 for 1.

Despite the immense pressure of the game and the precarious situation facing Team India, Virat Kohli managed to share a light moment with Glenn Maxwell. The incident occurred after Maxwell made a dangerous throw at the striker’s end. As the Australian allrounder made the sharp throw towards the wicketkeeper, Virat Kohli found himself in the line of fire.
The former Indian skipper skillfully stopped the ball with his hand before the extraordinary moment unfolded. While fielders usually apologize after such incidents, Glenn Maxwell chose a different approach. With a big smile on his face, he was seen saying something to his IPL teammate in an animated manner before the latter joined in by playfully striking him with his chest.

Meanwhile, Cummins dismissed Virat Kohli to put Australia in the driver’s seat. The India star scored 54 runs off 63 balls. At the time of writing this piece, India were on 159 for 4 in the 32nd over.
