Indian skipper Rohit Sharma shattered multiple records after his valiant 43 runs knock in the second innings of the ICC World Test Championship (WTC) Final at the Oval, England. He surpassed MS Dhoni and Sachin Tendulkar in two massive records. 

After being set the target of 444 runs, Indian skipper Rohit Sharma came out with positive intent and kept his side in the hunt. The right-hander played some crisp shots and kept the scoring rate in check. He stitched 41 runs for the opening partnership with Shubman Gill (18) and ensured that his side was off to a great start.

Despite the controversial decision of Shubman Gill, Rohit Sharma looked unfazed as he kept playing his shots and timed the ball to perfection. He build important 50+ partnership with Cheteshwar Pujara (27) and ensured that India are in the hunt.

Rohit Sharma looked set for a big knock as he was batting beautifully but a poor shot selection from him saw him getting trapped in LBW by Nathan Lyon. The Indian skipper scored 43 runs off 60 balls with the help of 7 fours and 1 six. His knock gave a great start to India and the onus now remains on other batters to keep the team in the hunt.

Rohit Sharma’s 43-run knock not only gave the Indian team a good start but it saw him shattering multiple records. The Indian skipper surpassed MS Dhoni to become India’s 5th highest run-getter in international cricket.

He now has 17115 runs to his name as he crossed Dhoni’s tally of 17092 runs. The right-hander now has Sourav Ganguly, Rahul Dravid and Virat Kohli, and Sachin Tendulkar ahead of him.
