Australia had a dominant Day 4 as they set a mammoth total of 444 runs for the Men in Blue. India got off to a pretty decent start as the openers Shubman Gill & Rohit Sharma dictated the terms. India scored 41 runs in the first 7 overs as Shubman Gill looked quite comfortable against Scott Boland as the pacer castled his stumps earlier.

Earlier on Day 4, it was the sheer brilliance of Alex Carey as the crafty left-handed batter played a fine knock of 66 runs in 105 balls and struck 8 fours. Mitchell Starc too chipped in with a handy knock of 41 runs in 57 balls and struck 7 fours as Starc dictated the terms.

Scott Boland was bowling the 8th over of India’s run chase and on the very first delivery, Shubman Gill tried to guide the ball past the gully fielder but couldn’t time it properly and Cameron Green took a breathtaking catch.

The decision was sent upstairs to the 3rd umpire and astoundingly, umpire Richard Kettleborough gave it out despite the visuals suggesting that the ball had touched the ground. Both Rohit Sharma & Shubman Gill were shell-shocked by the decision as Shubman Gill was dismissed on 18 runs in 19 balls.

“These things will help in the decision-making. The decision was wrong and the umpire should have taken a bit of more time. The ball was between the two fingers and then the two fingers weren’t there,”
