Indian batter Virat Kohli shattered the massive record of Sachin Tendulkar and is now leading the charts for India in terms of the most runs scored for the team in the ICC knockouts. 

Virat Kohli achieved the feat in the ongoing ICC World Test Championship (WTC) Final against Australia at The Oval, England. The kingpin of the Indian batting lineup has held the fort for his side and has batted extremely well to keep his side in the hunt for the ICC Trophy.

After India lost Rohit Sharma (43) and Cheteshwar Pujara (27) in quick succession of time in the chase of 444 runs, Virat Kohli steadied the innings and kept the run flow in check. He played some magnificent shots and made Australian bowlers toil hard.

Virat Kohli remained unbeaten at 44 runs off 60 balls and had stitched an unbeaten 71 runs partnership with Ajinkya Rahane (20) and kept India in the hunt. The Rohit Sharma-led side will head into day 5 with 280 runs to win. It’s fair to say that Kohli will be the key for the team.

WTC Final: Records Broken By Virat Kohli After His Unbeaten 44 runs knock on Day 4 

Virat Kohli’s 44 run-knock not only kept India in the hunt, but also saw him breaking quite a few records. The right-hander joined the likes of greats in Sachin Tendulkar, VVS Laxman, Rahul Dravid, and Cheteshwar Pujara as he becomes 5th Indian to complete 2000 Test runs vs Australia. He also completed 5000 runs across formats against the same opposition.
