Indian batter Shubman Gill has reacted to his controversial dismissal on the Day 4 of the ongoing ICC World Test Championship (WTC) Final against Australia at the Oval, England. He shared the picture of the ball touching the ground with clapping emojis on Instagram.
Shubman Gill was at the receiving end of a controversial decision that saw him back in the hut for just 18 runs while chasing the massive target of 444 runs. He gave India a fine start with skipper Rohit Sharma (43) as they stitched 41 runs for an opening partnership.

But their blistering start was cut short by Scott Boland. The lanky pacer bowled a great ball on the good length that caught the outside edge of Shubman Gill’s bat just at the stroke of tea. The ball went quickly to Cameron Green at the gully who gobbled the ball just with his left hand but it wasn’t clear as it seemed the ball touched the ground and the umpires went upstairs.
The TV umpire took his time to make the decision and eventually termed Shubman Gill out. The batter was extremely disappointed and even skipper Rohit Sharma had a chat with umpires. The decision invited a lot of discussion among fans and pundits. After that, quite a few pictures emerged on social media, which showed that the ball was clearly touching the ground.

Shubman Gill even after the stumps wasn’t convinced as just after the day ended he posted a picture on his social media handles, expressing his disappointment. Here’s Gill’s story:

WTC Final: India head into Day 5 with 280 runs to win
Chasing the target of 444 runs, India came out with positive intent and looked to score runs. After the wicket of Shubman Gill, Rohit Sharma (43) and Cheteshwar Pujara (27) played some magnificent strokes and stitched 51 runs for the third wicket. They kept India in the hunt but both played false shots and lost their wickets within the span of just 1 run.
However, after that, Virat Kohli (44*) and Ajinkya Rahane (20) steadied the innings and played well for their unbeaten 71 runs partnership. They kept the hopes of Indian fans alive. At Stumps on Day 4, India was 164/3. They need 280 runs to win on the last day and fair to say both these batters will hold the key for the team.
