Shubman Gill’s controversial dismissal has divided the opinions of the cricketing world on day 4. Aakash Chopra has now joined the bandwagon of cricketers who have given their opinion on the same. Gill was dismissed in the 8th over of India’s second innings with Cameron Green diving towards his left and taking the catch.
Television replays showed that there was enough evidence of the ball touching the ground before getting into the hands of Green. The replays also showed Green’s left hand touching the ground as he was not in complete control of the catch. However, the Indian batter was given out which opened the floodgates for Australia as they made inroads into the Indian second innings.

Reviewing the fourth day’s play on his Youtube channel. Aakash Chopra spoke about Gill’s controversial dismissal first up. He said that Gill’s dismissal will be open to assumptions and will be discussed for eternity as no one can tell the actual story.
“There were discussions about Shubman Gill’s dismissal. It will happen repeatedly and I feel it will happen for eternity. A lot of people have tagged me and sent pictures saying that there was a gap between the fingers” Chopra said.

He further said that there is nothing definite to prove that there was a gap between the fingers of Cameron Green.
“If there is a gap between the fingers and the ball is between the fingers, the ball would have touched the grass – now this is an assumption. Neither you, me nor anyone else can see the ball touching the grass in that picture” Chopra further added.
Indian Fans Will Say It Was 100 % Not Out: Aakash Chopra On Shubman Gill’s Dismissal
Chopra further said that the Indian fans will think that Gill was given out wrongly stating “The obvious thinking is that it would have touched the grass as the ball wouldn’t have got stuck between the two fingers, some part would have touched the grass. With that assumption, if you are Indian fans, you will say it was 100% not out.”
Third Umpire Gave It Out Based On What He Sees: Aakash Chopra
He further said that the third umpire and the Australian fans saw it from a different perspective saying, “If you are an ICC umpire, you will say that you cannot assume what you have not seen, and that he will give it out or not out based on what he sees. He didn’t see clear-cut evidence to give it not out and Australians will also say the same thing.”
India need another 280 runs on day 5 with seven wickets in hand as they look to chase down a historic total to win the WTC final.
