Representing your nation in an ICC World Cup event is, unarguably, the biggest achievement in a cricketer’s career. The ongoing T20 World Cup 2021 saw a lot of young cricketers playing their first-ever ICC event. And, for some veterans, it was, perhaps, an opportunity to represent the nation for one last time.

After every ICC World Cup event, cricketers tend to bid goodbye to the game. The ongoing ICC T20 World Cup 2021 is finishing on Sunday and some cricketers also might announce their retirement after that.

Here’s a look at five players who might announce their retirement after the ICC T20 World Cup 2021.

Chris Gayle waved his bat after his 15-run knock in what was West Indies’ last game against Australia in the ICC T20 World Cup 2021. He also threw his gloves and signed T20 shirts at the crowd which left everyone wondering if they had seen him one last time donning the West Indies jersey.

However, when asked about his retirement, he said that he would like to play one more match in Jamaica in front of his home ground before he big goodbye officially.

Nevertheless, it’s pretty clear that Chris Gayle isn’t likely to play a lot of international games ahead and might announce his retirement anytime soon. In his international cricket career, he has played 103 Tests, 301 ODIs, and 79 T20 internationals, scoring 7215, 10480, and 1899 runs respectively.
