Kane Williamson-led New Zealand National Cricket Team lost the final of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2021 against Aaron Finch-led Australia National Cricket Team by 8 wickets at Dubai International Cricket Stadium on Sunday, November 14.
New Zealand lost the toss and they were invited by Australia to bat first. Openers Daryl Mitchell and Martin Guptill didn’t have an impressive outing in the final. However, Kane Williamson played the captain’s knock of 85 runs and helped New Zealand post the target of 173 runs for Australia.

Chasing the target David Warner and Mitchell Marsh smashed terrific half-centuries to help Australia win the ICC T20 World Cup title. Notably, this was the first-ever T20 World Cup title of the mighty Australians who are the most successful team in the ODI World Cups having won the trophy 5 times.
It Was Nice To Build Some Partnerships – Kane Williamson
During the post-match presentation, New Zealand Captain Kane Williamson said that he felt nice to build some good partnerships and help New Zealand post a good target just to get “chased superbly by Australia.” He said:
“We were trying to get a platform and the surface was holding a fraction. But typical to here in Dubai. It was nice to build some partnerships and get what we thought was a competitive total. Only to be chased superbly by Australia.”
Williamson added that he is proud of the way the Blackcaps have played in the tournament and also said that they gave it their best shot in the final but it wasn’t enough to win the World championship.
“They’re a fantastic side. We certainly made every effort. Guys came out and committed to their plans. They didn’t give an inch really. Really proud of our team’s efforts throughout. Came here in the final and gave it our best shot but it wasn’t enough,”

Kane Williamson signed off by saying that they adjusted as the venues changed and they were heading into the final battle with high hopes. He asserted:
“Conditions varied a lot from venue to venue but we adjusted well. Nice to get to the big dance. Credit to Australia. Today they really turned it on. High hopes coming into this game. Never nice. Winning and losing are two possible outcomes.”
