The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chief Ramiz Raja has made a big revelation on how he planned the dismissal of the star India National Cricket Team opening batsman, Rohit Sharma, with Pakistan National Cricket Team captain Babar Azam ahead of the ICC Men’s T20 World 2021 in the United Arab Emirates (UAE).

When India and Pakistan went head-to-head in the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup last year, the Virat Kohli-led Team India lost the match by 10 wickets against the Babar Azam-led Pakistan.

Winning the toss and bowling first, Pakistan restricted India to 151/7. Chasing the target, openers Mohammad Rizwan and Babar Azam batted brilliantly and chased down the target in 17.5 overs. The ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2021 win of Team Pakistan was their first victory against Team India in a World Cup match.

The pace spearhead Shaheen Shah Afridi won the Player of the Match award for his 3-wicket haul against India. He bagged the wickets of Rohit for a golden duck, KL Rahul for 3 and Virat Kohli for 57.

I asked Babar what are your plans against India – Ramiz Raja

Speaking on a BBC podcast, Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chief Ramiz Raja recalled his chat with Pakistan captain Babar ahead of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2021.

Raja said that he had asked Babar about his plans against India before the team left for the World Cup. The PCB chief added that he told Babar to use left-arm pacer Afridi against Rohit to dismiss him easily.

“Babar Azam was here with the Chief Selector before leaving for the World Cup, and I asked him what are your plans against India,” Ramiz said.

“I can tell you how to get rid of Rohit Sharma right now and Babar was intrigued. I said get Shaheen Afridi bowling at 100mph, get a man at short-leg. Just bowl that inswinging yorker at 100mph and do not give him a single and keep him on strike. You will get him out.” he added.

Meanwhile, the arch-rivals India and Pakistan have been placed in the Group 2 of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2022 along with South Africa and Bangladesh.

The highly-anticipated clash between India National Cricket Team and Pakistan National Cricket Team will take place on October 23 at the Melbourne Cricket Ground.
