The 6th match of the CPL 2021 sees Jamaica Tallawahs take on Barbados Royals at Warner Park on Sunday (IST). Jamaica Tallawahs are off to a perfect start, having secured a massive 120-run win over St. Lucia Kings in their first game. Jamaica batted first and notched a humungous 255-run total in the first innings.

All the top five batsmen made substantial contributions with the ball. Openers, Chadwick Walton (47 off 29) and Kennar Lewis (48 off 21) set the tone, while Haider Ali (45 off 32) and Rovman Powell (38 off 26) continued the fireworks in the middle order. Andre Russell tore apart the opposition in the final few overs as he scored a half-century off just 14 deliveries.

St. Lucia Kings, in reply, folded for just 135 runs in the second innings. There wasn’t much of a contribution from the top of the order. Tim David scored a half-century later in the innings only to delay the inevitable. For Jamaica, Migael Pretorius starred with the ball, picking 4 for 32, while Imran Khan picked 3 for 7 runs in 2.3 overs. ‘

On the other hand, Barbados Royals haven’t made a promising start to their campaign. They have suffered in both the games they have played thus far. They lost the first game against Trinbago Knight Riders by 6 wickets, followed by a 21-run defeat at the hands of St. Kitts and Nevis Patriots. Ahead of the game against Jamaica, they would be desperate to earn a win and open their account.

The likes of Glenn Phillips, Johnson Charles, and Jason Holder haven’t really contributed much in the batting department. Azam Khan and Shai Hope have scored the majority of runs and have looked in great touch. For Barbados to turn their fortunes around, the big player ought to step up to the plate and contribute substantially with the bat.

As far as bowling is concerned, the fast bowlers have done a decent job with Amir, Thomas, and Holder all amongst the wickets. However, the spin duo of Ashley Nurse and Hayden Walsh have proved to be expensive.
