Trinbago Knight Riders will be up against St. Lucia Kings in the seventh match of the CPL 2021 on Sunday. Trinbago Knight Riders started their campaign with a defeat at the hands of the Guyana Amazon Warriors. However, they fought back in the second game, beating Barbados Royals by 6 wickets.

In the last game, Isuru Udana ran through Barbados’ batting line and left them reeling at 42 for 3 inside 7 overs. He accounted for the top three wickets to leave the opposition on the backfoot. Shai Hope and Azam Khan then stitched a 32-run stand for the fourth wicket to lead the recovery.

However, Shai Hope, unfortunately, got out in the eleventh over while trying to hit a six off Akeal Hossein. Iduna came back again to get rid of Azam Khan after scoring a great cameo of 30 off 21 balls. It didn’t take too long for Trinbago to get rid of the tail as Barbados as they got bundled out for 122 in the first innings.

Mohammad Amir gave Barbados a wonderful start, claiming three wickets in no time. Trinbago Knight Riders, once again, got off to an awful start with the bat. They lost the first three wickets for just 18 runs. Tim Seifert added 15 valuable runs before Oshane Thomas sent him packing. At 38 for 4 after 8 overs, Barbados were on course to register their first win in the tournament.

However, Kieron Pollard then joined hands with Dinesh Ramdin and made sure he stayed till the end and took his team home. Pollard went onto register his first half-century of the season. He scored an unbeaten 58-run knock off 30 balls, while Ramdin made 29 off 31 balls.

St. Lucia Kings, on the other hand, suffered a massive 120-run defeat in their first game against Jamaica Tallawahs. Jamaica sent the St. Lucia’s bowlers to a leather hunt as they notched a humongous 255-run total in the first innings. Apart from Roston Chase, all the bowlers went for more than 10 runs an over. Obed McCoy was the best bowler for Kings, finishing with figures of 3 for 52 in 4 overs.

In the second innings, St. Lucia Kings didn’t get the start as they would have hoped for. Raheem Cornwall scored 2 fours and 1 six before getting out on the fifth ball of the first over. Skipper du Plessis got out on the very first ball of the innings, while Fletcher (9 of 8) and Chase (11 off 5) also got out cheaply.

St.Lucia Kings lost 6 wickets for 55 runs inside 6 overs. Tim David scored a half-century later in the innings only to delay the inevitable. Faf du Plessis and Co. would be hoping to exhibit a better show against Trinbago Knight Riders on Sunday.
