The seventh match of the 2021 edition of the Caribbean Premier League will have Trinbago Knight Riders take on Saint Lucia Kings on Sunday. After suffering defeat in their first game of the season, Trinbago Knight Rider fought back with a 6-wicket win over Barbados Royals.

Trinbago Knight Riders

Trinbago Knight Riders put on a solid bowling performance in the last game. Isuru Udana led the way with the ball, as he picked a five-wicket haul. He sent back the top three batsmen for just 42 runs inside 7 overs. Shai Hope and Azam Khan tried to lead the team’s recovery but couldn’t stay at the crease for too long. Shai Hope, once again, looked well for his 19-ball 20 but got out while trying to play a big shot.

Azam Khan, on the other hand, hit 2 fours and 2 sixes en-route to 21-ball 30 before becoming Udana’s fourth scalp. The rest of the batsmen got out in single digits and Barbados Royals were eventually bundled out for 122 in the first innings.

Mohammad Amir gave Barbados a great start in the second innings as he sent back Trinbago’s top three batsmen in just 18 runs. Tim Seifert scored 15 off 25 balls before Oshane Thomas sent him back in the eighth over. Kieron Pollard then joined Dinesh Ramdin with a mountain to climb.

The skipper joined hands with Ramdin to gradually take the innings forwards. The duo played caution with aggression. With only 125 runs to chase, both had the time to play sensibly. Both stayed unbeaten and eventually took the team home in 16.5 overs. Pollard scored 58 runs off 30 balls, while Ramdin scored 29 runs off 31 balls.

St. Lucia Kings, on the other hand, are coming off an embarrassing 120-run defeat against Jamaica Tallawahs. Faf du Plessis and Co. conceded 255 runs in 20 overs. Andre Russell scored a half-century off just 14 deliveries, while all the other batsmen in top-four also made significant contributions.

St. Lucia Kings, in reply, managed 135 runs in the second innings. Tim David scored a half-century, though, none of the other batsmen made much of a contribution with the bat.
