Trinbago Knight Riders will square up against Saint Lucia Kings in the ninth match of CPL 2021 on Tuesday. Both sides have won one game each thus far in the competition. Trinbago Knight Riders, though, have played one more match than St. Lucia Kings. Trinbago Knight Riders are currently sitting at number three position with 1 win in three games, while St. Lucia Kings are languishing at the bottom of the table with 1 win in 2 matches.

Both teams already played against each other once in this edition on Sunday. St. Lucia Kings got the better of Knight Riders, winning the last-ball thriller by 5 runs. Saint Lucia Kings batted first and got off to a great start. They reached the 50-run mark inside the first six overs. Though, soon both the openers, R Cornwall (23 off 14) and A Fletcher (28 off 25) got out. Faf du Plessis too followed after scoring 10 off 15 balls.

Tim David, however, continued his fine run in the competition for Trinbago Knight Riders and stitched a great partnership with R Chase. The duo took the team out of danger, adding 66 runs for the fifth wicket.  Tim David scored 43 off 32 balls, including 3 fours and as many sixes, while Chase scored 30 off 24 balls. At the end of the first innings, St Lucia Kings amassed 157 in the first innings.

Lendl Simmons and Tion Webster looked rusty in the second innings. The bowlers used the cutters and slower bowlers to great effect as Trinbago Knight Riders failed to match up the required run rate. After 12 overs, they had only managed to score 70 runs for the loss of two wickets. Kieron Pollard came at number four but that didn’t help as well. Pollard could only manage to score 9 off 11 balls.

Colin Munro played an uncharacteristic knock of 40 runs off 46 balls but stayed unbeaten right till the end. However, Tim Seifert came in the 17th over and then completely turned the game in a matter of a few overs. He gave his team hope of winning the game after scoring boundaries at a great pace. He played a brilliant 40 off 16 balls and almost won the game for the team.

In the final over, 14 runs were needed and the first ball went for a four. However, Wahab Riaz held his nerves and gave only 4 runs in the next five balls. Saint Lucia Kings eventually won the game by 5 runs.
