Rahul Dravid is the head coach of Team India. He overtook the position of Ravi Shastri, who was the coach of the team until T20I World Cup 2021. Rahul Dravid was the NCA Chief (National Cricket Academy) prior to being a head coach and did a wonderful job with youngsters during his term.
However, his role as India head coach has come under scrutiny after team’s multiple setbacks for the last one-and-a-half year. India has failed in ICC tournaments and also lost some prominent bilateral series under coach Rahul Dravid. However, during Ravi Shastri’s term, India had a better record. Here we take a glance at 5 reasons why Ravi Shastri was a better coach than Rahul Dravid.

5. Better Records In Bilateral Series

Under Ravi Shastri, Team India bagged its first-ever Test series victory in Australia in 2017 and repeated the triumph in 2021. India also crushed England in Test series 2-1 in September 2021, with one game being postponed. India also earned consecutive win records in home series with skipper Virat Kohli. India did fail to win ICC titles under Ravi Shastri but always dominated in bilateral series.
In contrast, under Rahul Dravid, India lost ODI series to Bangladesh and Australia. Against Australia, India faced a defeat at home. The men-in-blue also faced a humiliating whitewash against South Africa in the ODI series at the start of 2021. Hence, Rahul Dravid’s record in bilateral series is poor so far unlike Ravi Shastri.
