CPL 2021 Final Prediction: Saint Lucia Kings (SLK) vs Saint Kitts And Nevis Patriots (SKN). St. Lucia Kings will be squaring up against St. Kitts and Nevis Patriots in the final of the CPL 2021 on Wednesday. St. Lucia Kings knocked Trinbago Knight Riders out of the tournament after beating them by 21 runs in the first semi-final on Tuesday.
After winning the toss and opting to bat first, the Kings posted a massive 205-run total in the first innings. Mark Deyal set the foundation with a blistering 78-run knock off just 44 balls, including 5 fours and 6 sixes. Roston Chase continued his fine form with the bat as he scored 36 runs off 21 balls.
David Wiese and Tim David collected 70 runs in the final four overs to take the total past the 200-run mark. Wiese and David both remained unbeaten at 34 (21) and 38 (17) respectively.
Trinbago Knight Riders lost Lendl Simmons early in the chase but got a great start, thanks to a 17-ball 30-run cameo from Sunil Narine. There were contributions from everyone at the top of the order besides Simmons, however, none of them could go on to play a big knock for them.
Trinbago Knight Riders, as a result, were bundled out for 184 runs in the second innings. Dawid Wiese was, once again, brilliant with the ball as he picked his second five-wicket haul in the tournament. He finished with figures of 5 for 39 runs in 4 overs. Wahab Riaz and Keemo Paul chipped in with two wickets each.
The second semi-final saw St. Kitts and Nevis Patriots beat Guyana Amazon Warriors by 7 wickets to book a place for the finals.
Dwayne Bravo. and Co. denied Guyana to develop partnerships in the first innings as the former kept taking wickets at regular intervals. Brandon King (27 off 17), Chandrapaul Hemraj (27 off 24), and Pooran (26 off 14) got starts but none of them could go to score big.
Hetmyer’s (45 off 20) late exploits, however, took the team to a competitive score of 178 runs in the first innings. It was a collective bowling effort from St. Kitts as four bowlers picked two wickets each in their quota of overs.
Chris Gayle and Evin Lewis came to the crease with a clear intent of going after the bowlers. The duo played some jaw-dropping shots and didn’t spare any opposition bowler. Chris Gayle scored 42 runs off just 27 balls, before getting out in the 8th over of the innings. However, Ewin Lewis kept hitting boundaries all across the park.
Dwayne Bravo came at number three and it proved to be a good decision. The duo added 88 runs for the second innings and killed all the hopes of Guyana. Lewis went on to play an unbeaten 77-run knock-off 39 balls, while Dwayne Bravo scored 34 off 31 deliveries. St. Kitts and Nevis Patriots eventually chased down the total by 7 wickets.
