The incident happened on the final day of the thrilling Test when Jonny Bairstow ducked a Cameron Green bouncer on the last ball of the 52nd over. The wicketkeeper-batter went out of his crease thinking the over was complete and without noticing whether the over has been called by the umpires.

The Australian wicketkeeper-batter Alex Carey was quick to collect the ball and he instantly launched it back to the striker’s end where it hit the stumps. The third umpire declared Jonny Bairstow out as he was well out of his crease.

Following the dismissal, the Aussies were slammed by the English fans in the stadium and on social media and the Lord’s long room members were also upset with the players for not withdrawing the appeal.

After the match, Ben Stokes said he would have withdrawn the appeal and the UK Prime Minister Rishi Sunak has backed the England skipper’s stance. When Sunak’s official spokesman was asked whether the Prime Minister thought Australia’s actions were not in keeping with the spirit of cricket, his response was “Yes”. The spokesman further told reporters:

“The Prime Minister agrees with Ben Stokes. He said he simply wouldn’t want to win a game in the manner Australia did. But the game did provide an opportunity to see Ben Stokes at his best and it was an incredible test match. He has confidence that England will bounce back at Headingley (in the Third Test starting on Thursday).”

Former England National Cricket Team captain Michael Vaughan while reacting to Cricket Australia’s decision to withdraw their men’s team from an ODI series against Afghanistan, questioned whether Australia National Cricket Team will decline to play against Afghanistan National Cricket Team in the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup 2023, which will be held in India in October-November.

Australia were all set to play a three-match ODI series against Afghanistan in the United Arab Emirates following the tour of India.

However, on Thursday, CA announced that it has withdrawn from the series following a recent announcement from the Taliban that it was banning university education for Afghan girls.

In what can be a huge setback for the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) ahead of the second half of the 14^th edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL 2021), their experienced opener Faf Du Plessis of South Africa suffered an injury ahead of his team St Lucia Kings’ encounter against the Barbados Royals in the ongoing Caribbean Premier League (CPL 2021).

Chennai Super Kings have already reached UAE to set up their training camp ahead of the IPL 2021 resumption which will be played in venues like Dubai, Abu Dhabi, and Sharjah and their remaining players involved in the CPL 2021 were to join them after the end of the tournament, which included Faf du Plessis.

The former South African captain, who retired from Tests earlier this year, has been with the Chennai Super Kings from the start, apart from a short stint for Rising Pune Supergiant, when the CSK team was suspended from the Indian Premier League.

Faf Du Plessis Misses The CPL Encounter Against Barbados Royals Due To Injury

Du Plessis had been one of the most consistent players in the Indian Premier League and his record suggests the same. He has 2622 runs in 91 matches at an average of 34.96 and a strike rate of 131.03. His highest score is 96 and he has hit 86 sixes and 234 fours in his career. He also has 59 catches to his name.

Faf was the shining light for CSK who had a poor season in 2020 when they were knocked out of the playoffs for the very first time in IPL history, as he made 446 runs with 4 fifties including the highest score of 87* at a strike rate of 140.75. Even in the first half of the IPL 2021, he has 320 runs in 7 matches with the best of 95* at an average of 64.00 and a strike rate of 145.45.

However, there will be a question mark over his participation in the second half of the IPL 2021, after it was revealed that he suffered a groin injury before the 28^th match of the CPL 2021 between St Lucia Kings and Barbados Royals. Stand-in captain of the Kings, Andre Fletcher revealed at the toss that Faf will miss this match and possibly others as well after a groin injury had occurred. He is in terrific form for the Kings, having scored a brilliant unbeaten century in a match previously.

It remains to be seen whether Faf du Plessis recovers in time for the IPL 2021, but this development might surely have put the MS Dhoni-led side in some tension.

CPL 2021: Updated Points Table, Schedule, Live Telecast Channel In India. It was totally an ideal CPL weekend with six matches taking place in two days’ time. Sunday witnessed yet another triple header with the first game of the day taking place between the Barbados Royals and the Saint Lucia Kings.  The Saint Lucia Kings batted first and notched up a score of 190 on the board. In reply, the Barbados Royals chased down the score in 18.5 overs with eight wickets in hand. Kyle Mayers and Glenn Phillips ripped the bowling apart and showed their class with the bat.

The afternoon game saw the Guyana Amazon Warriors taking on the Jamaica Tallawahs in which the Guyana side scored 142 in 18 overs in a rain-hit game. Romario Sheperd’s splendid show with the bat helped the Guyana side to put up the decent total and in fact, it turned out to be a match-winning score. The Jamaica side was all out for 128 with Imran Tahir bowling two maidens in a row and picking up two wickets as well.

The last game of the league phase saw Saint Kitts and Nevis Patriots batting first and scoring 147 on the board against the Trinbago Knight Riders. In reply, The Trinbago Knight Riders chased down the score in 19 overs and Kieron Pollard scored a quickfire half-century that helped to get over the line. The teams for the Semi-finals have also been decided now and the semi-final will take place on Tuesday.

CPL 2021: SKN vs TKR- Prediction, Match 30. The 30^th match of the CPL 2021 will be played between Saint Kitts and Nevis Patriots and Trinbago Knight Riders at Warner Park on Monday. The two teams currently occupy the top two spots on the points table. Both played against each other on Saturday and St. Kitts and Nevis Patriots won that game by 8 wickets.

With that win, St. Kitts and Nevis Patriots became the first team to seal their playoff berth. Trinbago Knight Riders might be sitting at the second position, however, there is still a chance that they might not reach the playoffs.
