Pakistan take on Sri Lanka in the Asia Cup 2022 final on Sunday, September 11 in Dubai. The side made it through to the final after beating India and Afghanistan in consecutive games. The side lost to Pakistan in match six of the Super 4 a game ahead of the final. It was a moral-boosting five-wicket win for the Lankans who were not even in the race for making the finals at the start of the tournament.

Pakistan chased 174 against India and then beat Afghanistan in a nervy 130-run chase and won the game with a wicket to spare. Naseem Shah hit two back-to-back sixes in the final over to win the game for his side. Skipper Babar Azam had a special mention for him in his post-match comments.

“Excellent with the way Naseem Shah finished it off. Sharjah is always low-scoring, and Mujeeb and Rashid Khan are two of the best bowlers. We just wanted to take the match deep. The way we started with the ball was excellent. In our batting, we didn’t execute our plans very well, but Naseem was outstanding” said Babar.

Pakistan seems to have found the right combination and should ideally stick to the same XI for the final on Sunday. The side would dearly love Babar Azam to hit back form in the final. He scored 30 off 29 balls in the Super 6 game against Sri Lanka. Some of the regular players who were rested for the dead rubber against Sri Lanka will make a comeback into the XI for the final.

This campaign has been a forgettable one for the Pakistan skipper. In the game against Afghanistan, he scored a first-ball duck. Babar Azam has scored only 33 runs from 4 matches in the T20 tournament with a top score of 14.
