After a disappointing start to the tournament, Sri Lanka has established their dominance in Asian cricket. Sri Lanka won the title match against Pakistan by 23 runs. Sri Lanka became the new champion of Asia. 

Sri Lanka, who reached the final, broke many illusions and misconceptions in the tournament as a ‘dark horse’ team. Pakistan’s fielding looked very poor in the final match. In this match, many catches were dropped.

Pakistan fast bowlers caused damage to Sri Lanka by taking early wickets. Inform batsman Kusal Mendis and Pathum Nissanka were not able to score in this match. Pakistan fast bowler Haris Rauf broke the Sri Lankan batting order by dismissing Nissanka and Danushka Gunathilaka. Meanwhile, a funny incident happened during the match.

In the sixth over of the match, Haris Rauf bowled a brilliant yorker to Bhanuka Rajapaksa and Pakistani players made a strong appeal for LBW, but the umpire declared it not-out. Pakistan skipper Babar Azam went for the DRS and the third umpire also declared the batsman not-out, but Shadab Khan was so eager for the wicket so he forcibly grabbed umpire’s hand and raised it.

Shadab Khan, who has been the match winner for Pakistan so far in this tournament, could not do anything special in the final match. In bowling, he conceded 28 runs in four overs and took only 1 wicket, while in batting he managed only 8 runs.

All rounder struggled in fielding too. He dropped 2 catches at crucial moments which made Pakistan bear the brunt. In the end, the Pakistani team had to face a defeat by Sri Lanka by 23 runs.

Pakistan lost two quick wickets in the form of skipper Babar Azam and Fakhar Zaman while chasing 171 runs for victory. With a crucial partnership, Mohammad Rizwan and Iftikhar Ahmed got the innings back on track. Once the partnership was broken, Sri Lanka bowlers dominated Pakistan batters. Pramod Madushan ripped through Pakistan’s batting order, finishing with figures of 4/34. Wanindu Hasaranga picked up three wickets and completed his spell 3/27.
