Sri Lanka Cricket Team won Asia Cup 2022 against all odds and won their 6th Asia Cup Title. The official hosts of the tourney were given a huge setback by Afghanistan Cricket Team in the opener of the tournament. Legendary batter Mahela Jayawardene was quite impressed by the team’s performance.

The Island Nation would be over the moon as they convincingly defeated Men in Green in the finals. Sri Lanka Cricket made a resounding statement that they are no longer underdogs and are a force to reckon with.

Pakistan would be dejected as they missed a golden opportunity to win their 3rd Asia Cup Title. Chasing 171 is not a difficult task and losing the match by 23 runs is unacceptable in Dubai International Stadium as in Dubai, a team rarely wins a match batting first.

Babar Azam is facing a torrid time as the batter is finding new ways to get out which has now started to hurt the team. Babar needs to rediscover himself as there’s hardly any time before T20 World Cup 2022.

Mahela Jayawardene on Sri Lanka

Sri Lanka Cricket Team achieved an unbelievable feat as defeating Pakistan Cricket Team is never an easy task. Former Sri Lanka Captain Mahela Jayawardene heaped praise on the team. “Good toss to lose boys !! Showed character and passion to play for the country and so proud of each and every one enjoy the victory as entire country will.. brilliant team effort #AsiaCup2022.” tweeted Jayawardene.

Steep Road Ahead for Sri Lanka Cricket Team

Even after winning Asia Cup 2022, the Island Nation have a tough task on hands. They are scheduled to play T20 World Cup Qualifiers in Australia. They once again would be under the pump as all the associate nations would be well prepared to tackle any sort of challenge.

Head Coach Chris Silverwood would be aware that the team still has loopholes in it. The batter’s all-out attack approach almost made a mess out of the final. It would be interesting to see whether the team continues to be fearless in Australia where pitches would be bouncy and the boundaries would be long.

Sri Lanka in current form are looking threatening and the fans would be hoping that they continue the good work.
