Harare will host the third and final ODI of the ZIM vs NED ODI series. The series is level at 1-1 and the decider will be played on March 25, Saturday. Netherlands won the first ODI by three wickets while Zimbabwe won the second ODI by just one run in a cliffhanger of a contest. 

Zimbabwe posted 271 batting first after the top-four contributed heavily to the total. Skipper Craig Ervine scored 39 opening the batting. However, the chief contributors were Sean Williams (77) and Clive Madande (52). Young Dutch leggie Shariz Ahmad took five for 43 with the ball.

Tendai Chatara bowling the final over defended 15 as Zimbabwe prevailed in the game by just one run. Max O’Dowd (81) and Tom Cooper (74) scored at the top. There was nothing much from the middle-order as five Dutch batters were dismissed for single-digit scores. Skipper Scott Edwards’ lone hand of 36 was not enough for the visitors as they ended up conceding the game. 

 Zimbabwe and Netherlands will compete to earn their qualification, as they are out of the reckoning for direct qualification. This series serves as a warm-up for the same. The ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup Qualifier 2023 will be hosted in Zimbabwe from 18 June to 9 July to decide the final two teams for India’s ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup 2023. As per reports, the World Cup is likely to start from October 5 with the final on November 19.

The 2023 ODI World Cup will be a 10-team tournament with the top seven teams having already qualified. India being the hosts have earned a direct qualification. Along with Zimbabwe and Netherlands, South Africa, West Indies and Sri Lanka are also in contention to play the qualifiers. South Africa needs to win the ongoing ODI series against West Indies followed by the upcoming one against the Netherlands to qualify directly for the World Cup.

Zimbabwe have their senior players Sikandar Raza and skipper Craig Ervine returning for this series. The Netherlands, on the other hand, have experienced players like Max’ O’ Dowd, Tom Cooper, Colin Ackermann and senior pacer Paul van Meekeren in the side which makes them a competitive side as well. The result of the decider will depend on how the senior players perform.

Talking about the weather, the temperature will be around 27 degrees and the weather conditions will be pleasant and sunny. The humidity will be 70 percent and the day time will be mostly sunny. Good weather is expected with plenty of sunshine for a good game of cricket.
