India will tour South Africa for a multi-format series next month. The IND vs SA series will commence on December 10 and will witness three T20Is, three ODIs, and two Tests. The IND vs SA T20I series will be played first, followed by the ODI and Test series.
The three ODI games will be played on December 17, 19, and 21. Last time during the South Africa tour, India executed a horrible show in the ODI series facing a whitewash. This time, the men-in-blue will aim for a powerful show. Below we discuss India’s predicted squad for the South Africa ODI series.
India vs South Africa: India ODI Squad For South Africa
Openers- Rohit Sharma (C) & Shubman Gill
For the openers, Rohit Sharma and Shumban Gill should be part of the India squad for the IND vs SA ODI series. Sharma is also the skipper of India. Both have done a wonderful job as openers in ODIs this year.
Sharma has slammed 1100 runs in 24 ODIs in 2023 with 2 tons and 8 fifties. Gill is the leading run-getter for the team in 2023, hitting 1449 runs across 26 games.

Middle-Order- Virat Kohli, Shreyas Iyer, Suryakumar Yadav
In the middle-order, Virat Kohli, Shreyas Iyer, and Suryakumar Yadav are likely to be picked in the squad. With 2 centuries in the ongoing World Cup, Kohli has already shown his might with the bat. He owns a wonderful form.
Iyer struggled to score runs at the start but arrived with marvellous knocks in the last few games. Yadav has also played crucial knocks in some games and he is developing himself in the 50-over format too.
Wicketkeepers- KL Rahul & Ishan Kishan
KL Rahul and Ishan Kishan will be the two wicketkeepers for India in the ODI series against South Africa. Both are also part of the ongoing World Cup. In 2023, Rahul has held an average of 64+ in ODIs across 19 games, hitting 776 runs. Kishan has played 15 ODIs this year and scored 456 runs with 4 half-centuries.
All-Rounders- Hardik Pandya, Ravindra Jadeja, Axar Patel
For the all-rounders, Hardik Pandya, Ravindra Jadeja, and Axar Patel might be picked in IND vs SA ODI series. Hardik Pandya is the vice-captain of the team. He showed brilliant performances in the ongoing World Cup before getting ruled out due to an injury.
Ravindra Jadeja and Axar Patel are lethal spin all-rounders. Jadeha has hit 300 runs and picked 29 wickets in 23 ODIs this year. Patel has scored 132 runs and grabbed 4 wickets in 8 games.
Spinners- Kuldeep Yadav
With Ravindra Jadeja and Axar Patel, India can go ahead with only one primary spinner in the form of Kuldeep Yadav. With 45 scalps in 25 ODIs, the left-arm spinner is the leading wicket-taker for the team this year. He has also shown good form in ICC World Cup 2023.
Pacers- Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammed Siraj, Mohammed Shami, Shardul Thakur
Pacers will be crucial members of the squad on South Africa pitches. Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammed Shami are two key pacers for India currently and they will be part of the forthcoming ODI series against South Africa.
They have showcased wonderful form in the World Cup too. Mohammed Siraj has grabbed 40 wickets in 22 ODIs this year. He is the most successful pacer in ODIs this year. Shardul Thakur has played 16 games and accounts for 21 scalps in 2023.
