India and South Africa will square off in a multi-format series after the completion of the ICC World Cup 2023. During India’s tour of South Africa 2023, a Test, T20I, and ODI series will be played. The IND vs SA Test series will witness two matches that will be played towards the end.

The India vs South Africa Test series is part of the World Test Championship 2023-25. India will play their second Test series while South Africa will play their first series in the tournament. Rohit Sharma is the skipper of India in Tests and will lead the team in the Test series against South Africa. He will also be the opener for the side. Shubman Gill will be his opening partner. Both of them showed good performance in the previous Test series against West Indies.

Middle-Order Batters- Cheteshwar Pujara, Virat Kohli, Ajinkya Rahane

In the middle-order, Cheteshwar Pujara, Virat Kohli, and Ajinkya Rahane will be three key batters for the team. Kohli is the leading run-getter for the team in 2023 in Tests, hitting 557 runs in 10 innings with 2 centuries and 1 fifty.

Rahane has played 4 innings and scored 146 runs with 1 fifty. Pujara is a Test specialist batter for India. Across 8 innings in 2023, the right-handed batter has hit 181 runs.

Wicketkeepers- Srikar Bharat, Ishan Kishan

Due to the absence of injured Rishabh Pant, Srikar Bharat and Ishan Kishan might be picked as wicketkeepers in the India squad. Both were also part of the Test series against West Indies earlier this year.

Bharat has earned a good experience of keeping in Tests. Kishan made his Test debut against West Indies and slammed an unbeaten fifty in one inning.

All-Rounders- Ravindra Jadeja & Axar Patel

Ravindra Jadeja and Axar Patel might be picked as all-rounder. With 291 runs and 33 wickets in 7 Tests this year, Jadeja has showcased a marvelous performance in Tests. Patel is currently injured but he is likely to be fit ahead of the South Africa series in December. He played 4 Tests this year, clinching 3 wickets and smashing 264 runs with 3 half-centuries.

Spinners- Ravichandran Ashwin & Kuldeep Yadav

For spinners, Ravichandran Ashwin and Kuldeep Yadav can be inducted into the squad for IND vs SA Test series. Ashwin is a permanent spinner for India in Tests. With 40 scalps in 6 Tests, he is the leading wicket-taker for India in 2023.

Yadav has not played any Tests this year but after his stunning performances in ODIs, he might be added to the Test squad against South Africa.

Pacers- Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammed Shami, Mohammed Siraj, Mukesh Kumar

South Africa has a lethal pace attack and in response, India will also need a powerful set of pacers in the IND vs SA Test series. Currently, Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammed Shami, and Mohammed Siraj are the key pacers for the national side.

Hence, they might be part of the Test series against South Africa. After his impressive performance in the West Indies series, Mukesh Kumar might get a call for the series against South Africa.
