Rohit Sharma - Dilshan Madushanka

  • Rohit Sharma scored just 4 runs.

  • India have been asked to bat first.

Indian captain Rohit Sharma didn’t have a great outing in the ongoing match 33 of the ICC World Cup 2023. The batter perished in the first over of the game at his home ground – the iconic Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai.

India were asked to bat first in Mumbai and skipper Rohit Sharma took them off the flying start. The skipper smashed four on the first ball of the innings and it seemed that he would set the stage on fire. But he was stunned on the very next ball after that.

Dilshan Madushanka produced a corker to which Indian captain Rohit Sharma had no clue. He bowled a delivery on good length that nipped away with angle. The Indian skipper played for an inswinger and ended up playing down the wrong line. The ball curved past the outside edge and crashed into the off-stump. Rohit Sharma’s wife Ritika looked shocked after the dismissal of the Indian captain.

The Wankhede crowd was stunned after Rohit Sharma was back in the hut. The Indian captain scored 4 runs off 2 balls and India were jolted with an early blow. The onus will now be on Virat Kohli and Shubman Gill to take the team off to a good start and lay a platform for the middle order.
