Indian skipper Rohit Sharma made a heartwarming gesture after the game against Sri Lanka in the ICC World Cup 2023. The 33rd game of the tournament took place at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai, where India won the game by 302 runs.
After the win, Rohit Sharma spared some time for the fans as he took selfies with them and signed autographs as well. If that was not enough, following the post-match presentation ceremony, he gifted his shoe to a kid in the stands. This invited a huge cheer from the crowd.

Rohit Sharma didn’t have a great outing with the bat against Sri Lanka. He was back in the hut for just 4 runs. But he made sure that he had an incredible outing as the leader of the team. He made brilliant bowling changes as the bowlers won him the game.
India posted 357 runs on the board, courtesy of Shubman Gill (92), Virat Kohli (88) and Shreyas Iyer (82) brilliant innings. After that, Mohammed Shami picked five wickets whereas Mohammed Siraj bagged three scalps as they bundled out the opposition for 55 runs to win the game by 302 runs.
India became the first team to qualify for the semifinals of the ICC World Cup 2023. They won seven games on the trot and are at the top of the points table with mammoth NRR.

Rohit Sharma opened up about India’s performance in the ongoing ICC World Cup 2023. He was delighted after the team qualified for the semi-final of the tournament. He also talked about the win over Sri Lanka. Speaking at the post-match presentation, he explained:
“Very happy knowing that we have officially qualified now. Been a good effort from the squad, when we started off in Chennai. This was our goal, to qualify first and then obviously to be in the semis and the finals. The way we approached these 7 games, it was quite clinical. Everyone put in the effort and a lot of individuals have put their hand up. Was a good challenge to put runs on the board, and that’s the kind of template you gotta have when you want to score that many runs. 350 on any pitch is a very good score and a lot of credit to the batting unit for taking us to that score and the bowlers did the job obviously.
“Shreyas is a very strong (in his mind) lad and today, as you saw, he went there and did what he is exactly known for and that is what we expect from him. Showed that he is ready to take the challenge that is in front of him and Siraj is another quality bowler for us and if he does that (making the new ball talk) things look different for us. He (Siraj) has got a lot of skills when he is operating with the new ball.”
India will be next seen in action when they take on South Africa on 5th November in Kolkata.
