  • Quinton de Kock scored 5 runs.

  • Suryakumar Yadav scored crucial 22 runs.

Question de Kock ended Indian batter Suryakumar Yadav’s great cameo in the ongoing match 37 of the ICC World Cup 2023 against South Africa. The game between India and the Proteas is taking place at the iconic Eden Gardens in Kolkata.

On a pitch that has been tough to bat, India batted pretty well as almost every batter contributed. Suryakumar Yadav added handy runs down the order that powered India to a total of over 320. The right-hander played some glorious shots and was looking quite threatening.

But his stay at the crease was cut short by the brilliance of Quinton de Kock on the field. Suryakumar Yadav tried to reverse sweep a delivery from the Tabraiz Shamsi that was tossed up outside off. The batter gloved it and the ball seemed to be landing in no man’s land.

Quinton de Kock moved across and dived in front to take a good catch inches above the ground. His effort surely saved some crucial runs for his team as Suryakumar Yadav batted magnificently well. Here’s the video of his dismissal:

IND vs SA: Quinton de Kock falls for 5 runs against India

Quinton de Kock didn’t have a great outing with the bat as he perished for a low score in the ongoing game. The keeper-batter looked scratchy from the start as he was tested by Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammed Shami, who bowled impeccable lines and lengths.

Quinton de Kock was dismissed cheaply. Mohammed Siraj bowled a length delivery that was angling across the left-hander. The batter didn’t move his feet as he shaped for the drive-through cover. He played with an angled bat and the inside edge bounced back onto his middle stump. He perished for just 6 runs.
