India thumped South Africa by 243 runs.
India bundled out South Africa for just 83 runs.
IND vs SA was on the fray in match 37 of the ICC World Cup 2023. The table-top clash at the tournament took place at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata and it was all about the Indian dominance. They thumped Proteas by a massive margin of 243 runs and won 8th game on the trot.
India opted to bat first and they were off to a flying start, thanks to skipper Rohit Sharma (40) and Shubman Gill (22). India’s skipper did carnage on the bowlers and smashed them all over the park. The young batter complimented him well as the duo added 62 runs for the opening partnership.
After that, it was all about Virat Kohli (101*). The batter smashed his 49th ton in the ODIs and was supported well by Shreyas Iyer (77). The duo batted brilliantly in the middle overs and made sure that India kept the run rate in check.
In the end, Suryakumar Yadav (22) and Ravindra Jadeja (29*) played vital hands and India ended with a total of 326 runs. For South Africa, Keshav Maharaj, Lungi Ngidi, Marco Jansen, and Kagiso Rabad bagged one wicket each.
With the ball, Indian bowlers were all over the South African batters as they didn’t let them settle at all. No South African batter could go past the 20-run mark. Ravindra Jadeja was the wrecker in chief behind that as he bagged five wickets whereas others chipped in as well. India bundled out opposition for just 83 runs to win the game by 243 runs.
