Ravindra Jadeja was at the top of his game in the ICC World Cup 2023 game against South Africa. The all-rounder oozed his class in match 37 of the tournament, which took place at the iconic Eden Gardens in Kolkata.
Ravindra Jadeja spun the web around the South African batters and made them look clueless. He bowled impeccable lines and lengths and Proteas batter had no answers to the questions put in by him in what was the table-top clash.
Out of all the wickets he picked, the scalp of Temba Bavuma grabbed the eyeball of many. That was a peach of his delivery and he opened his account with the wicket of South Africa skipper. He bowled a tossed-up delivery on a middle stump to which the batter got on the back foot.
The ball from Ravindra Jadeja gripped and had a turn in it. The ball went past Temba Bavuma’s outside edge. The South Africa skipper played down the wrong line and the ball crashed into the off-stump to send the right-hander packing.

Temba Bavuma scored just 11 runs from 19 balls. After his wicket, South Africa’s wickets fell like a pack of cards as Indian bowlers were all over them. No batter from the Proteas scored over the 20-run mark.
After picking his first wicket, Ravindra Jadeja ran through the South Africa batting lineup and picked up five wickets in no time. His staggering heroics bundled out the opposition for just 83 runs and helped India win the game by a massive margin of 243 runs.

Indian captain Rohit Sharma lauded the effort of Ravindra Jadeja after the game. He praised the all-rounder for his effort with both bat and ball. Speaking at the post-match presentation, he explained:
“Jadeja has been very good for us. Playing in every format over the years. Today was a classical case as to what Jadeja is for us. Came out at the death and scored vital runs. Then picked up wickets. He knows his role and knows what the expectations from him.”
Ravindra Jadeja also played a crucial cameo down the order. He scored an unbeaten 29 runs off 15 balls and powered India to a total of 326 runs.
