Australia pacer Mitchell Starc has struggled to give his best show in ICC World Cup 2023. However, the left-arm pacer aims to make an impact in the climax of the ICC World Cup 2023. Mitchell Starc was a lethal pacer in the last two editions of ICC World Cups.

However, his performance took a toll this year, as he failed to strike early and also emerged expensive in many games. After 9 games, Starc accounts for 10 wickets at an average of 43.90 and an economy of 6.55.

Mitchell Starc Hopes To Make An Impact In Last Two Games

Speaking about his poor show to Cricket.au.com, Mitchell Starc said that there are different factors about his dismal show. The Aussie pacer pointed out that wickets act differently in India during day and night.

“There’s a lot of contributing factors. The wickets have certainly been two very different wickets, what gets through the day and through the night. Speed is not the be-all and end-all over here in India as well. How you go about that tactically, and whether it’s variations or what time you bowl through a game, or whether you win or lose a toss”, Starc said.

The 31-year-old admitted that he has failed to replicate his performance in the previous World Cups. However, he seeks to make an impact in the last two games for Australia.

“I certainly haven’t been at the level that I would have liked. I certainly take some (responsibility) on myself there that, I’m not to the same level as the last two World Cups anyway. But now there’s a chance at the pointy end to make the biggest impact”, he further said.

Starc also noted that he is facing some niggles that he suffered during the Ashes 2023, which is one of the reasons for his average performance in ICC World Cup 2023.

“I didn’t have much of a say in the decision. I’ve carried a few things from the Ashes and it was a chance to give them an extra chance before the semi-finals. If I only played when I was 100 per cent, I would have probably played 10 games. All bowlers around the world deal with stuff, we just don’t have to talk about it like batters do,” Mitchell Starc further said.

The Aussie pacer was rested in the previous match against Bangladesh in ICC World Cup 2023. Meanwhile, Australia will face South Africa in the semi-finals. The encounter takes place on Thursday, November 16 at Eden Gardens Stadium in Kolkata.
