Heinrich Klaasen led the rescue charge for his side in the ongoing semi-final 2 of the ICC World Cup 2023 against Australia. The match between the two teams is taking place at the iconic Eden Gardens in Kolkata.

South Africa opted to bat first and it was a horrendous outing for them as they lost wickets in clusters and were left tottering at 24/4. It was then when Heinrich Klaasen along with David Miller joined hands together and bailed their team out of trouble in Kolkata.

Heinrich Klaasen played some great shots. He showed great resilience and also punished the bad balls. He gave South African fans something to cheer about and made sure that his side got something on the board in the important semi-final match of the tournament.

During his innings, Heinrich Klaasen faced a nasty blow as well. It happened during the second ball of the 29th over when the keeper-batter drove the tossed-up delivery towards mid-off and ran for a quick single.

As he was about to reach the crease, Heinrich Klaasen bumped into Adam Zampa’s shoulder and the helmet pinged the face. He called out for the physios and after some treatment, he continued batting. Here’s the video of his collision:

SA vs AUS: Heinrich Klaasen gets dismissed for 47 runs

Heinrich Klaasen’s stay at the crease was cut short by Travis Head, who produced a staggering delivery to send the batter packing. The Australian all-rounder bowled a tossed-up delivery on the stumps to which the batter got late to get forward and cover the line.

The ball spun past the outside edge and went on to hit the stumps. He scored just 47 runs off 48 balls. He batted with the strike rate around 100 and also smashed 4 fours and 2 sixes in his innings. He added 95 runs in partnership with David Miller, who looks set for a big ton and put the team in a fighting position. The onus will now be on Miller to take the team to a big total.
