Glenn Maxwell didn’t have a great outing in the semi-final of the ICC World Cup 2023 against South Africa. The low-scoring thriller at the iconic Eden Gardens is keeping everyone on their toes as both teams are putting up a great fight.

After getting bundled out just for 212 runs, South Africa are making sure that they give their every possible effort to win the game. Their spinners have kept them in the hunt and have bowled staggering lines and lengths to put pressure on the opposition.

Tabriz Shamsi has chipped in as well and has picked two big wickets in Marnus Labuschagne (18) and Glenn Maxwell (1). Out of the two wickets that he has got so far, the scalp of the all-rounder was one to cherish as he produced a good delivery to send the batter packing.

Tabraiz Shamsi bowled a flatter delivery that fired in on the middle stump. Glenn Maxwell went deep into the crease and tried to heave it away. He was beaten in the air as the ball kept low and went on to hit the stumps. The leg stump was uprooted and the batter had to take the long walk back. After taking the wicket, the spin bowler went berserk and pulled off a wild celebration.

Glenn Maxwell managed just one run and with his wicket, Australia were left tottering at 137/5. South African bowlers even after his wicket bowled tight lines and lengths and kept putting Australia under pressure.

SA vs AUS: After Glenn Maxwell, Steve Smith perishes

After the wicket of Glenn Maxwell, Steve Smith held the fort and kept his side in the hunt. However, he perished at the wrong time and fell to Gerald Coetzee. The fast bowler came round the wicket and bowled a  full delivery that was slanting across outside off.

Steve Smith went across his stumps and swiped across the line. The ball went straight up in the air and Quinton de Kock took a brilliant catch to send the batter packing. He managed 30 runs and his wicket brought another twist in the tale. The game is going down the wire and it’ll be interesting to see who will face India in the final.
