Veteran Pakistan all-rounder Imad Wasim has expressed his support for skipper Babar Azam amid criticism of the team’s performance in the ICC Men’s World Cup 2023. Imad Wasim emphasized that personal attacks or severe criticism should not be directed at Babar Azam.

Pakistan are on the verge of elimination following New Zealand’s victory against Sri Lanka in the league stage match. The Men in Green need a substantial win against England in their last league-stage match to potentially face Team India in a semi-final clash in the event.

Never Go Personally With Any Player – Imad Wasim

In a discussion with local media, Imad Wasim expressed support for Babar Azam, emphasizing his role as the team’s leader. Wasim stressed the importance of avoiding personal criticism directed at any player representing Pakistan.

“Babar Azam is our captain, he’s my leader and my captain. There should be no harsh criticism or any personal attacks from anyone when he comes back to Pakistan after this World Cup. Never go personal with any player who plays for Pakistan,” said Wasim, as quoted by a user of X (formerly known as Twitter).

It Is Easy To Give Advice On TV – Babar Azam

Speaking at the pre-match press conference ahead of the clash against England, Babar Azam highlighted that it is easy to give advice on TV but welcomed advice directly.

“I have been captaining my team for the last three years and I have never felt this way. It’s just because I have not performed the way I should have in the World Cup, that’s why people are saying that I am under pressure. I am under no pressure. I have been doing this for the last 2.5 or 3 years. I was the one who was performing and I was the one who was the captain. I was applying the same thing.”

“It depends how you take such thing. Everyone has their own point of view, their own way of thinking. Everyone is saying something different. He should be like this, or like that. If someone has to give me advice, everyone has my number. It is easy to give advice on TV. If you want to give me some advice, you can message me,” he added.
