Shaheen Afridi produced a staggering effort in the field in the ongoing match 44 of the ICC World Cup 2023 against England. The left-arm pacer took a staggering catch at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata.

His stupendous effort came during the 4th ball of the 37th over when Haris Rauf bowled a slower ball to Harry Brook. The batter made room and hit it very hard towards the wide of mid-off. But he didn’t get the elevation and it wasn’t even wide of the fielder.

Shaheen Afridi, who was at the mid-off, moved sharply to his left and took a brilliant catch to send the batter packing. His staggering effort in the field surely saved crucial runs for Pakistan in the end as Harry Brook was looking dangerous.

Harry Brook scored 30 runs off 17 balls and batted with a strike rate of 176.47. He also smashed 2 fours and 2 sixes in his innings. His innings powered England to the score of over 300 runs. Haris Rauf picked his third wicket of the day.

ENG vs AUS: Shaheen Afridi picks two wickets as England posts 337 runs on the board

Pakistan bowlers were taken to runs in the ongoing game against England, who opted to bat first after winning the toss. Dawid Malan (31) and Jonny Bairstow (59) gave a decent start to the team and set a good platform for the team. Ben Stokes (84) and Joe Root (60) slammed magnificent half-centuries as well.

Jos Buttler (27) and Harry Brook (30) played vital cameos in the end that powered England to a total of 337/9. Pakistan pulled back things really well in the end and made sure that they restricted the opposition to under 350 runs.

With the way, Stokes and Root were going it seemed that they would go past even 360 runs. But pacers used the variations well and outfoxed the batters. For Pakistan, Shaheen Afridi picked two wickets whereas Haris Rauf bagged three scalps. Mohammad Wasim Jr and Iftikhar Ahmed also were amongst the wickets. Pakistan’s chances to qualify for the semi-final are second to none now as practically it’s not possible.
