Saud Shakeel looked stunned as he was castled by a peach from Adil Rashid in the ICC World Cup 2023 clash against England. The 44th game of the tournament took place at the iconic Eden Gardens in Kolkata.

In the chase of 338 runs, Pakistan lost early wickets and was under tremendous pressure. Saud Shakeel tried to play the long innings sticking in. However, he was undone by the brilliance of Adil Rashid, who produced an absolute peach of a delivery.

Adil Rashid bowled a googly that was pitching down the leg side. Saud Shakeel stood inside the line hoping to play it away but he missed. The ball spun big to hit the middle stump. The batter looked puzzled as he was bowled around his legs. Here’s the video:

Saud Shakeel scored 29 runs off 37 balls with the help of four boundaries. After his wicket, Pakistan couldn’t get going at all and lost wickets in clusters and lost the game by a massive margin of 93 runs.

Agha Salman slammed a vital half-century but lost his wicket just after that. In the end, Shaheen Afridi (25), Haris Rauf (35), and Mohammad Wasim Jr (14*) entertained the crowd with their hitting. They were all out for just 244 runs and they ended the tournament on a disappointing note.

ENG vs PAK: Yes, very disappointed with the performance – Babar Azam after Pakistan’s performance in World Cup

Pakistan captain Babar Azam talked about the team’s campaign in the ICC World Cup 2023. He expressed his disappointment and admitted that they weren’t up to the mark with bat and ball throughout the tournament. He added that they will address the things and will see what lies ahead for the team. Speaking during the post-match presentation, he explained:

“Yes, very disappointed with the performance. If we had won SA match, could’ve been a different story. But yes, have made mistakes in bowling, batting and fielding. We gave 20-30 runs extra. Bowled few loose deliveries. Our spinners haven’t taken wickets. That’s had a big effect. If spinners don’t take wickets in middle over, you struggle. We have to sit together. Let’s see. Will take positives and discuss our mistakes also.”

Pakistan finished ICC World Cup 2023 in 5th spot on the points table. They will be next seen in action when they will tour Australia next.
