Former Pakistan players Mohammad Amir and Imad Wasim take an indirect dig at Babar Azam during a TV show. After Babar Azam’s poor show in ICC World Cup 2023, many former Pakistan cricketers have criticised and trolled him.

The Pakistan skipper played 9 matches during the tournament and slammed 320 runs at an average of 40.0. He scored 4 half-centuries in the tournament but had a poor strike rate of 82. The right-handed batsman also failed at his captaincy, as Pakistan could not reach the semi-finals with 4 wins and 5 defeats in 9 matches.

During a Pakistan TV show, former Pakistan pacer Mohammad Amir and spinner Imad Wasim took an indirect dig at Babar Azam. During the show, a fan asked them who is the batter they never wished to dismiss while bowling.

Without naming Babar, both of them said that fans would not be able to digest the name. However, fans were quick to understand their reference in the comments. Have a look at the video below.

Meanwhile, Pakistan finished in the 5th spot in the points table in ICC World Cup 2023, failing to reach the semis. Pakistan needed to outplay England by a margin of over 300 runs in the final league match. However, the team lost to England by 93 runs.

Pakistan gave a poor show in the tournament. They lost to Afghanistan by 8 wickets, which came as a big jolt to many cricket fans around the world. Afghanistan defeating Pakistan was also one of the big upsets in the tournament.

Pakistan also lost four back-to-back games after winning their first two matches. Their pacers failed to strike early, which helped other teams to post big totals. Babar Azam was at the centre of criticism for his failure with the captaincy as well as batting.

Notably, he was the No. 1 ODI batter before the start of World Cup. However, he could not perform up to the mark, which resulted in a lot of criticisms by Pakistan fans and former players. Meanwhile, India, New Zealand, South Africa, and Australia are four teams that will play in the semi-finals of ICC World Cup 2023.
