Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Chairman Zaka Ashraf is looking for a new chief selector for the Pakistan Cricket Team. As per the reports in Cricket Pakistan, it is learned that Younis Khan and Mohammad Hafeez are the top contenders to take up the role.

This comes are Inzamam-ul-Haq stepped down from the position and his resignation was accepted. After that, Tauseef Ahmed was in charge of the selection committee and was expected to announce the squad for the upcoming Test series against Australia. However, the entire committee has been sacked now.

With PCB in the hunt for a new committee, the names of Younis Khan and Mohammad Hafeez have popped up. It is learned that one among them will be made the chief. The reports suggested that the new selection committee will discuss about the squad for the Australia series.

Younis Khan and Mohammad Hafeez have been great servants of the Pakistan Cricket Team. Under the former, the team won T20 World Cup in 2009 whereas on the other hand, Hafeez has a great track record as a captain of the team.

PCB is likely to make the official announcement soon. The governing body is aiming to ensure that the newly elected chief selector is well-equipped to navigate the challenges posed by the dynamic landscape of modern-day cricket.

Apart from this, some other changes related to the team are also expected. This comes after Pakistan’s poor outing in the ICC World Cup 2023. They won just 4 games and lost against India, Australia, Afghanistan,  South Africa, and England.
