New Zealand skipper Kane Williamson was at his hilarious best during the ongoing ICC World Cup 2023 game against Sri Lanka. The match between the two teams is taking place at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru.

New Zealand have asserted their authority over Sri Lanka in the ongoing game. The Kiwis have been right on the money with the ball and their intensity has been at the top as well. However, there was a moment of joy as well that left many in splits and skipper Kane Williamson was the architect behind it.

As Angelo Mathews came out to bat, Kane Williamson went close to him and asked if he had his helmet strap correct or not. It happened during the 9th over when the Sri Lanka batter came out. He along with the New Zealand skipper then shared the light moment before taking the guard.

Here’s the video:

For unversed, Angelo Mathews was termed timed out in the game against Bangladesh. As he walked out to bat in that game, the strap of his helmet broke before taking the guard. In the meantime, Shakib Al Hasan appealed and he was deemed timed out.

Angelo Mathews didn’t have a great outing in the ongoing game against Sri Lanka. The all-rounder tried to bail the team out of trouble but couldn’t as he perished early. He scored 16 runs off 27 balls. He also smashed 2 fours before getting dismissed to Mitchell Santner.

NZ vs SL: Kane Williamson’s Army right on top against Sri Lanka

Kane Williamson and company are having a great time in the ongoing game against Sri Lanka. They won the toss and opted to field first. However, after that, it has all been about them as they have bowled staggering lines and lengths and have put Sri Lanka on the back foot.

Trent Boult has picked three wickets whereas Lockie Ferguson and Tim Southee also combined to pick three scalps. Mitchell Santner also has bagged two wickets along with Rachin Ravindra, who picked one New Zealand reduced Sri Lanka to 128/9. The Black Caps need to win this game to keep themselves in contention for the semi-final. A win here will make their case very strong but if they lose they might have to face the unfortunate exit from the tournament.
