New Zealand skipper Kane Williamson was left embarrassed after Daryl Mitchell convinced him to take a bizarre DRS against Sri Lanka. The ongoing 41st game of the ICC World Cup 2023 is taking place at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bangalore.

The New Zealand Cricket Team are having a stupendous time in the must-win clash for them. They have oozed their class with the ball and have made a mockery of the Sri Lanka batting lineup. Amid all the seriousness in the game, there have been a few hilarious moments as well.

Then the incident took place on the 4th ball of the 24th over. Lockie Ferguson bowled a low full-toss to Dushmantha Chameera. The batter defended and got a massive inside edge. Daryl Mitchell, who was in the slips, was sure that it was out. He convinced skipper Kane Williamson to take the review.

However, as the replays were shown on the big screen, the New Zealand team were embarrassed. Skipper Kane Williamson in particular looked sheepish as he hid his face. Daryl Mitchell and Glenn Phillips gave a disappointing reaction.

Kane Williamson overall has been spot on with his captaincy in the game. Almost everything that has been touched has turned into gold. Every bowler, barring Glenn Phillips, has taken wickets and has put the team in the rollicking position. They look like favorites to win the game. A win here would almost take them to the semi-final of the tournament.

Trent Boult has picked three wickets whereas Lockie Ferguson and Tim Southee also combined to pick three scalps. Mitchell Santner also has bagged two wickets along with Rachin Ravindra, who picked one. New Zealand reduced Sri Lanka to 128/9.

NZ vs SL: Watch: Kane Williamson Hilariously Asks Angelo Mathews To Check His Helmet Strap

Amid all the high-class performances from them, Kane Williamson produced another hilarious moment in the field. Angelo Mathews, who was timed out in the last game after the strap of his helmet broke, was asked by the Kiwi skipper about the same.

As Angelo Mathews came out to bat in the 9th over, Kane Williamson went close to him and asked if he had his helmet strap correct or not. The incident left many in splits and invited hilarious reactions from many.
