Former New Zealand pacer Mitchell McClenaghan has left a  number of Indian fans worried with his recent post on X ahead of the highly-anticipated World Cup semifinal between India and New Zealand.

India and New Zealand will lock horns against each other at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai on November 15. For the second consecutive time, India and New Zealand will face each other in the World Cup semifinal. They previously clashed in the 2019 edition, where New Zealand emerged victorious before eventually losing the final against England.

Team India will be eager to avenge the loss and secure a spot in the final, having fallen short in the last two editions. The Men in Blue are high on confidence after winning all of their 8 games so far. India have already defeated New Zealand once in the ongoing tournament and will be looking to replicate it in the semifinal.

Mitchell McClenaghan leaves fans worried:

A couple of days before the huge India vs New Zealand clash, Mitchell McClenaghan took to X to state that playing at the Wankhede Stadium might be an advantage for his country. The former left-arm pacer posted a gif of a person fist bumping and wrote: “Of all the venues in India… Wankhede Stadium suits New Zealand the most.”

Here are some of the reactions from the fans:

New Zealand have played three ODIs at the Wankhede Stadium and have won two of them. They played two games at this venue in the 2011 World Cup. The Black Caps beat Canada by 97 runs before losing to Sri Lanka by 112 runs in 2011. In 2017, they faced India in an ODI at the iconic stadium for the first time and won that game by 6 wickets.

Talking about New Zealand’s run in the ongoing tournament, they began their campaign with four wins in a row. Their winning run came to an end with a 4-wicket loss against India before they lost three more games in a row. The Kane Williamson-led side finally ended their losing streak with a win against Sri Lanka in their final league game.
